by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSME) at Sakri Saraiya in
Kudhni, which will be operated on PPP mode.

nodal agency. For this, the Ministry of MSME
has given Rs 5 crore.

opened under the Scheme of Fund for

24. Amendment in Bihar Municipal
(Amendment) Ordinance-2022
@ Why in News - Recently, under the
amendment in the Bihar Municipal
(Amendment) Ordinance-2022 by the
government, two sections of the Municipal
Act - Section 23 (1) and Section 25 have been
changed.
@ Key point- In section 23 (1), earlier the
councilors used to choose the mayor and
deputy mayor by majority, but under the
amendment, the voters will choose from the
chief councilor to the mayor through the
election by the state election commission.
ü Re-election will be held if the post
becomes vacant due to death,
resignation, dismissal.
ü In case of any vacancy of the Empowered
Standing Committee member, the Mayor
will nominate any of the councilors.
ü The mayor-Deputy Mayor will submit his
resignation directly to the government.
ü The mayor, deputy mayor, chief
councilor and deputy chief councilor of
the city panchayat and city council, who
are removed from ofce, will not be able to
contest for the rest of the term in the
concerned body.
25. New Land Allotment Policy

they will no longer have to show the
turnover of their industry or business.
@ About BIADA- Bihar Industrial Area
Development Authority i.e. BIADA was
formed under the Bihar Industrial Area
Development Act, 1974. Its main objective is
to develop planned industrial areas in the
state and to promote industries.
26. Earthquake Safety Week - 2022
@ Why in News - Earthquake Safety Week is
organized every year in Bihar by the Bihar
State Disaster Management Authority on 15-
21 January.
@ Key Point- The main objective of this event is
to make people aware of the disaster like
earthquake.
@ Other points- Bihar is a very sensitive state
from the point of view of earthquake. Eight
districts of the state- Sitamarhi, Madhubani,
Darbhanga, Saharsa, Supaul, Madhepura,
Araria and Kishanganj fall in Zone V most

earthquake. 24 districts are in Zone IV while
the rest 6 districts fall in Zone III.
27. 'PICU Hospital' is being built in six
Districts
@ Why in News- PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care
Unit) eld hospital is being built in the state
hospitals of six districts for the treatment of
children.
@ Key Points- These are being constructed
under the Emergency Response and Health
System Preparedness Package Phase-2.
These six districts are- Patna, Bettiah,
Khagaria, Saharsa, Purnia and Nalanda. Up
to 32-42 beds will be set up in a PICU
hospital. A time limit of three months has
been set for the construction of the hospital.

programme', said that the states like
Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand etc. have

Asia's largest ethanol plant
@ Why in News - Asia's largest ethanol plant is
going to be built in Bihar at a cost of 250
crores.
@ Key Point- This plant is being set up at
Gadhani, Deorhi in Bhojpur district. Here
Bihar Distilleries and Bottlers Company will
be the biggest producer of ethanol in Asia.
Every day four lakh liters of ethanol will be
produced here. It is planned to start its
production from the coming March 2022.
Bal Shakti Puraskar to Sakshi of
chhapra and Dheeraj of Bettiah
Day, two brave boys of Bihar were honored
with the National Bal Shakti Puraskar on
January 24, 2022.

performed best, showing signicant
reduction in Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR),
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), and Child
Mortality Rate (U5MR).
§ Bihar recorded the highest mortality rate in
terms of Neonatal Mortality Rate (34), Infant
Mortality Rate (47) and Child Mortality Rate
(56), while Kerala had the lowest Mortality
Rate.
@ Domestic Violence: - Five states namely
Sikkim, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh,
Assam and Karnataka have seen an increase
in domestic violence cases.
@ Total Fertility Rate (TFR) has decreased in all
states as compared to NFH-4.
§ The fertility rate came down to 2.1 in 19 out
of 22 states/UTs.
@ In only 3 states: Manipur (2.2), Meghalaya
(2.9), and Bihar (3.0), the rate is still above
the prescribed replacement level.
@ Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR) - has
increased in most of the states. The CPR is
highest in Himachal Pradesh and West

intake of IFA tablets by pregnant women for
