Self-esteem is seen as a personal trait which tends to be enduring and

stable, the one that encompasses within itself host of beliefs about one self. It is shaped
throughout one’s life, it will increase and decrease throughout life but with essentially
remain at the same level. Self-esteem has both positive and negative affects depending
on if an individual has low or high self-esteem. There are a lot of factors why people have
low or high-esteem it can be your thoughts and perceptions, person’s judgement, role and
status know if they have high or low self-esteem that’s why there Rosenberg’s Self-
Esteem Scale that may help a lot of people.

In order to measure if I have low or high self-esteem I tried to answer the


statements on Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale and I got a score of 17 which is within the
normal range this means that I do not have low self-esteem. There’s a lot of statements
which takes me time to answer effectively for example the statement “I am able to do
things as well as most other people” because I am not really good in many things while a
lot of people are really god in doing certain things. It also takes time for me to answer the
statement “I certainly think that I am useless at times” for the reason that I need to recall
or get back to hard situations in my life if I really think that I am useless. However, on the
other statements it takes me easy to answer because I know to myself that I know what
right answer I should put on it. Through answering this statements, I was able to go back
on my hard times which I experience of the statements on Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem
Scale.

Through answering statements in Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale I get to


know more myself and realized that self-esteem is the center of one’s being self-
confidence, self-worth, self-love and respect. Additionally, people with a healthy and
positive self-esteem level are confident in who they are, have firm beliefs and trust their
own judgment. Having a higher self-esteem increases the capacity to be happy and have
richer relationships while low self-esteem is the opposite or lack of confidence in one’s
own worth. However, having too much self-esteem can be a bad thing too because you
are not perfect and may be you are not the best in the world and this may lead other
people to hate you or misinterpret you in having too much confidence.
