A6 Constructional preparation – Wall duct and motorpit for external drive

1. Concrete pools and pools in brickwork

ƒ Leave a round hole of ∅ 110 mm for the wall duct on the motor side. Cast a PVC tube in
dense concrete (no brickwork with holes).
ƒ Cast dense concrete (20 x 20 cm) on the opposite side for a solid mounting of the counter
bearing.
ƒ When choosing a plastic motorpit, it can be screwed easily to the wall duct later on.

2. Pool with thin wall (polyester monoblock, metal or plastic elements)

ƒ Do not fill up at shaft height (motorpit) and counter bearing.

3. Install a motorpit in concrete or brickwork

ƒ The width of the motorpit needs to be wider than 600 mm. This way the motor can be
easily mounted and demounted in the motorpit. Keep a free space of 200 mm under the
shaft to install the motor.
ƒ Protect the motorpit from groundwater with a drain pipe of ∅ 25 mm or with an evacuation
pump in pit.

4. Motorpit in polypropylene (L x B x H = 800 x 800 x 900 mm).
ƒ The shaft has to be situated at maximum 700 mm from the top side of the motorpit. (1)
ƒ On top of the solid pit cover it is possible to place a tile of 500x500 mm. (2)
ƒ Provide a pipe around the concrete pit opening in order to drain off the seeping through
water to the drain or the drainage. (3)
ƒ Provide a solid bottom surface in concrete or stabilized sand underneath the pit. (4)
ƒ The wall duct will be mounted waterproof on the pit. (5)
ƒ A connection for a guidance for ventilation and cables is provided on the motor pit. (6)

A7 Constructional preparation – Wall duct for Scuba-Drive

General:
ƒ The tubular motor (Scuba-drive) has a 10 m long electrical cable fixed to the motor.
ƒ This cable runs through a cable duct towards the connection box next to the pool.
ƒ This connection box is always accessible for maintenance.
ƒ The cable duct is positioned at the centre of the roller shaft.

1. Concrete pool or pool in brickwork

ƒ The build in flange is mounted while constructing the pool wall. That way, the flange is
poured into concrete, flush with the pool wall. The wall duct has a 50 mm connection for a
tube. This will bring the motor cable up to the connection box next to the pool. This tube
will be filled with pool water, therefore the connection box must be installed above the
pool water level.

MAN-AT-A7 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 4

ƒ Eventually, the wall duct can also be mounted when the pool wall is already finished. A
hole of 40 mm must be drilled through the wall positioned at the centre of the roler shaft.
The flange is placed over the hole and fixed with screws and plugs on the finished pool
wall.

MAN-AT-A7 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 5

2. Thin wall pool (polyester monobloc, sheet metal wall, plastic elements)
ƒ Drill a hole of 40 mm through the wall on the exact centre of the roller shaft.
ƒ The flange is fixed with bolts and nuts/washers at the back of the wall. Therefore it is
necessary to do this before the pool is completed.
ƒ A hose (diameter 50 mm) can be connected to the cable duct in order to bring up the
cable to the connection box next to the pool. The hose will be filled with pool water,
therefore the connection box must be installed above the pool water level. The cable duct
will be filled with pool water and has to exceed the pool water level.

A8 Constructional preparation - EcoTop

Algemeen:
ƒ Level control is necessary to install and use an automatic slatted cover.
ƒ Do not place any obstacles in the sidewalls which can trouble the course of the cover. For
example: protruding skimmers, ladders, etc….
ƒ The coping stone does not have any overhang in the indicated area. The slats need to
dispose of the whole pool width without any obstacle.
ƒ The location where the supports are being installed has to have a flat foundation and
sufficiently solid for anchoring.
ƒ The two supports are identical. Nevertheless bear in mind that if chosen for power supply
with solar panel, it is necessary to install the motor in sunlight and not to install it in direct
shadow (for example close to a wall). The solar panel charges even when it is not situated
in direct sunlight, but it is advisable to install it on the side of the pool that is orientated
most to the southern side.

Operation:
ƒ The shaft is installed on the supports on the edge of the pool.
ƒ The supports are covered by synthetic housings. Through this, the electrical connections
are also protected against moisture.

C2 Mounting of the mechanism – Underwater mount with external motor

General
ƒ The wall passage must be installed before the finishing (liner, tiles, polyester,….) of the
pool wall, according to chapter A6: Constructional preparations – Underwater mount
with external motor.
ƒ The most important part in this installation is the sealing (for the polyester resin) and the
alignment (with the roller shaft).

Mounting sequence

1. Mounting of the winding shaft

ƒ Remove the PVC tube (110mm) that has been cast and drill at an angle of +/- 45°, a duct
(12 mm) into the wall recess in order to pour the polyester resin in a later stage.
ƒ Apply a generous band of silicone on the inside and outside edge of the two flanges.
Do not use the silicone too sparingly in order to fill up all unevenness on the wall.
ƒ Mounting: mount the flange along the pool side on the winding shaft:
o Liner pool: use the flange which hooks up after the border of the winding shaft.
Apply silicone between the flange and winding shaft. (See previous figure:
Underwater mount with external motor: Pool with liner/foil)
o Pool with polyester or tiles: Screw the flange with holes on the end of the winding
shaft. Put the flat sealing in between. (see previous figure: Underwater mount with
external motor: Pool with tiles / polyester finishing)
ƒ Place the winding shaft in the hole and slide the second flange (motorside) over the
winding. Make the sealing between the winding shaft and the flange with silicone.
ƒ Turn the PVC nut by hand so that the winding shaft is fixed.

2. Alignment procedure
ƒ Mount the 2 alignment plates on the winding shaft. The plate with the hole has to be
mounted on the side of the motorpit. The plate with the star will come along the side of the
pool. The cord will be mounted with a knot on the plate with the hole and goes through the
star to the end flange at the other side of the pool.
ƒ Correct the position of the winding shaft till the cord is in the middle of the star. The
bearings in the winding shaft are now perfectly aligned with the end flange.

Alignment plate End flange

3. Fixing of the wall duct

ƒ Mix hardener and polyester resin intensively (supplied in the right volume ratio). Keep on
filling until the entire space around the wall duct has been filled.
The wall duct must be left untouched until the polyester resin has completely
hardened (+/- 2 hours by 20°).

MAN-AT-C2 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 3

ƒ Waterproofness: keep in mind that the waterproofness of the pool is not established by the
polyester resin, but by flanging the liner between the wall duct and the seals.
o Liner pool:
The liner will be stuck between the liner ring and the winding shaft. Place a sealing
in the front and at the back of the liner. Cut a hole in the liner with a diameter equal
to the inside diameter of the liner ring. Also make holes (7mm) for the bolts with a
hollow punch.

Sealing with liner pool

o Pool with polyester or tiled finishing:

The liner ring and sealings were places previously. The waterproofness
of the pool will be established by the silicone between the flange with
holes and the concrete wall.

Sealing with pool with polyester/tiles finishing

MAN-AT-C2 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 4

ƒ The bearings are mounted with 4 bolts (M6) on the winding shaft (motor side) or liner ring
(pool side). Place a sealing between the bearing and the winding shaft or liner ring.
ƒ Place the water seal in the chamber of the bearing. The open side has to be directed to the
pool. Use a rubber hammer and Vaseline to position the water seal. The water seal has to
be completely countersunk in the bearing.
ƒ Use the alignment kit again to position the end flange (in line with the wall duct).

4. Mounting of the end flange

ƒ Outline the 4 drill holes of the end flange. Use the 4 screws 8 mm and plugs to mount the
end flange in solid concrete.
o Liner pool: For a pool with liner, mount the end flange after placing the liner.
Make 4 holes in the liner for the screws with a hollow punch. The holes in the
concrete can be made in an earlier stage to avoid debris behind the liner. Water
tightness is assured by means of silicone.

5. Placing the shaft

ƒ Slide the cylinder end (Ø 30mm) with the adjusting ring in the bearing of the shaft. Make
sure the adjusting ring is unscrewed. Place the motor shaft through the wall duct and slide
the protective ring over the shaft. Couple the motor shaft to the drive flange. Slide the
complete shaft at the motor side until the drive flange hits the protective ring.

ƒ Tighten the adjusting ring 5 mm away from the bearing to allow expansion of the shaft.
Make sure that during the installation of the motor shaft, the water seal is not damaged.

MAN-AT-C2 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 5

6. Mounting of the motor
ƒ Apply durable lubricating grease on the shaft end in the motorpit and on the hollow shaft
of the motor.
ƒ Place the key and slide the motor over the shaft end.
Attention: With a hydraulic motor a special key is delivered. Use this one to fix the motor.
ƒ Attatch the motor to the motorpit (built-in type) or to the support plate (top-mounted type).
The motor has threaded holes M8. The motor bracket is provided with slot holes and is
attached to the motor with bolts M8.

Motor bracket

Motor

External electrical motor

The motor bracket is adapted to the type of motorpit:
o Polyester motorpit:
The motor bracket is placed before the pool is filled up because of the bolt/nut
coupling. (read chapter A6: Constructional preparations – motorpit and wall duct)
o Polypropylene motorpit:
The motor bracket is welded on the support plate.
o Concrete motorpit:
The motor bracket is screwed into the pool wall with wood bolts and plugs.

MAN-AT-C2 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 6

C3 Installation mechanism – Underwater mount with external motor in pool with
thin wall

ƒ Copy the drill positions of the bearing block on the wall of the niche (and motorpit) with a
gauge. It is possible to use the sealing as gauge. Make 6 holes ( 9 mm ) for the attachment
of the pool bearing and 6 holes (7 mm) for the attachment of the wall duct.
ƒ The hole for the motor shaft is positioned in the centre and made by using a 35 mm hole
saw.
ƒ The wall duct is attached on the outside of the pool wall with bolts M6 x 25.
ƒ The bearing is screwed against the wall duct with bolts M8 X 70.

ƒ It is possible that the wall of the motorpit or pool is not completely vertical. To have a
good alignment by a horizontal position of the winding shaft, we deliver some inclining
pins (3°, 4° and 5°). The orientation of the drill holes is very important. That is the reason
why there is a groove in the pins.
ƒ Mount the 2 water seal structures in the chambers of the pool bearing. Make sure the open
side is directed to the pool! Use a rubber hammer and the supplied Vaseline to position the
ring: the water-seal structure has to be completely countersunk in the bearing.
ƒ Use a hollow punch (7 mm) to perforate the 4 bolt holes of the wall duct in the liner, the
central opening is cut out by means of a sharp cutter. (cancelled for polyester monobloc)
ƒ The pool bearing is mounted against the wall duct with bolts M8 X 70.
ƒ Motorpit, motor bracket and pit bearing have to be installed before the pool is filled up.

MAN-AT-C3 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 1

ƒ The end flange has to be definitively installed before the pool is backfilled. Screw the bolts
through the end flange and pool wall in the counter flange. The water sealing is made by
the flat sealing between the pool wall and the end flange and with silicone at the backside
of the pool wall (between the counter flange and the pool wall).

Motorpit side Pool side

ƒ Slide the cylinder end (Ø 30mm) with the adjusting ring in the bearing of the shaft.
Connect with bolt/nut M10 on the end flange. Make sure the adjustable ring is unscrewed.
Place the motor shaft through the wall duct and slide the protective ring over the shaft.
Couple the motorshaft to the drive flange. Slide the complete shaft at the motorside until
the drive flange hits the protective ring. Tighten the adjustable ring 5 mm away from the
bearing to allow expansion of the shaft. Make sure that during installation of the motor
shaft, the water seal is not damaged.

MAN-AT-C3 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 2

C4 Mounting mechanism - Scuba-Drive with wall plates

The slats shaft or winding shaft is made to measure. The motor and bearing of the
system are already integrated in this shaft. The ends of the winding shaft fit into the
fixing eyes on the wall plates.

Two types of wall plates are available: with or without folded end. Shaft and wall plate
are anchored to each other by means of bolt/nut M10. Take care that the loose end of
the shaft does not disappear in the slats shaft during assembling. The wall plates have to
be straight next to the wall. With the distance ring on the shaft end, the plates will be
stretched to the wall. Then you need to screw down the bolt in the distance ring.

Folded wall plates Flat wall plates

On the motor side of the shaft the power cables are directed upwards by means of the wall plate.
A protective plate prevents this cables from obstructing the smooth running of the slats.

The maintenance pipe for the two cables from motor to control box must be sufficiently
large and cannot make any sharp turns so that in case of possible repairs the cables can
easily be led in. This way it is possible during repair work to guide the cables easily and
the motor is always demountable.

Scuba-Drive with wall plates

C5 Mounting mechanism - Scuba-Drive with cable duct

ƒ Install the cable duct and end flange as described in Chapter ‘A7: Constructional
preparation – Cable duct for Scuba-Drive’.
ƒ The ends of the winding shaft fits into the hinge brackets on the flanges. The winding
shaft is custom-made. The motor and bearing of the system are already integrated in this
shaft.
ƒ The motor cables is 10 meter long and runs through a maintenance pipe to an above-
ground junction box.
ƒ The shaft-end on the end-flange will be slid into the bearing of the winding shaft.
ƒ The adjusting ring is screwed down 5mm away from the bearing.

C6 Mounting mechanism – EcoTop

ƒ The slats shaft or winding shaft is custom-made. The motor and bearing of the system are
already integrated in this shaft. The ends of the winding shaft fit into the hinge brackets
supports.
ƒ Position the stainless steel side-supports on the edge of the pool. On one of the two
supports a plate is being installed to mount the contacts. This is the motor side.
ƒ Mount both shaft-ends with 2 screws M8 in the side supports.
ƒ Anchor both supports in the floor with screws 8mm and plugs 12 mm.

MAN-AT-C6 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 1

D Installation slats

The slats may only be exposed to the sunlight when floating on the swimming
pool water.
The slats have to be put immediately from the box into the water. The
remaining slats in the box have to be covered. Act strictly to his method!

General
ƒ Respect the order of the slats in the crate: the slats for the pool end are on top, those
connecting to the shaft are on the bottom.
ƒ Orientation of the slats: the vaulted side is the top side, open side towards pool end.
ƒ Avoid friction of the end caps and sagging of the slats by rolling up the strips during the
mounting process.

Connecting the slats

ƒ Hook up the slats on one end.

ƒ At the other end of the slats, make a hinging movement. They will slowly come together
over the whole length.

Fixing the slats to the shaft

ƒ The slats are fixed with straps to the
shaft. Therefore, holes are provided in
the shaft to fix the straps.
ƒ If the complete length of the strap is
not used, it is necessary to shorten it
on length. The slats are not fixed
directly to the shaft. This way
mounting and demounting is easier
and the shorter bolts can not damage
the motor in the shaft.

MAN-AT-D Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 1

Guidance of the slats
When dropping down on the water (top-mounted cover) or coming up to the water
surface (built-in cover) the slats do not automatically go in correct direction. The first
slats must be forced so.

1. Ballast tube: (supplied)

SS beam

NYLON LINTEN
Nylon straps

The ballast tube is strapped to the stainless steel beam and hung over
the roll.

Position it just under the level of the shaft when the cover is completely
rolled up. The ballast will guide the slats in the correct direction and
puts constant pressure on them when unrolling.

The straps will leave marks on the cover: 2 lines will appear. These
lines are not scratches and do not harm the cover in any way. The
weight is considered the best solution!

MAN-AT-D Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 2

2. Spoiler plates:

If the ballast tube is not preferred, than spoiler plates have to be fixed to
the first 3 slats. They bend the first slat downwards (built-in cover) or
upwards (top-mounted cover). The spoiler plates are fixed every 1,5
meter with screws in the open chamber of the slats and silicone glue for
extra safety.

ƒ Built-in cover

Self unwinding of last tour

When the pool has an asymmetrical or irregular end (bevelled end, cut in end, end
with lead-in stairs, etc.) the cover can unwind without apparent reason. The last
winding slides of he roll without rotation of the shaft! The end positions are then
wrong.

This phenomenon is provoked by the difference in weight of the long slats sitting on
one side of the roll against the short slats on the other side.

One can avoid the problem by leaving enough slats on the water while programming
the open position. When this is not sufficient, the anti-slip clamps have to be installed.
They avoid the sliding of one layer of slats over the other. Small damage is to be
expected where the clamps take grip in the other layer.

In some situations the clamps do not provide a sufficient solution: contact Technics &
Applications for advice !

In some cases it is impossible to roll up all the slats of a roman, rectangular

or pitched end when opening the cover.

The slats get stuck

ƒ Against the dividing wall/stainless steel beam:

Can be avoided by efficient level control. A swimming pool with an AquaTop pool cover
should always have an overflow and an automatic replenishment.

ƒ Against the skimmer in side wall:

We advise to put the skimmers behind the cover. Placing the skimmers at the back also
furthers the optimal evacuation of dirt on the cover. When placing a skimmer in the side
wall mind that the cover cannot get stuck behind its flange!

ƒ Against outside corners in pool:

A corner is placed on the first slat to push away the cover from the corner.

PVC corner

MAN-AT-D Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 5

Overflow pool

1. At the end of the first slat a guide is provided,

which will prevent the cover from floating over
the edge of the pool. The guide will be mounted
on the first slat and ridges divided over the pool
length.

When preparing the pool choose for a coping

where overflow and cover are compatible. (see
drawing)

It is possible to indicate this option on the order form.

ƒ Good execution:

Wheel

ƒ Bad execution: the slat will block and/or loose contact with the water

This is not compatible with stair end (example: roman end).

In case of mounting in a recess in the bottom or a casing on the bottom, the first slat stays
outside.

Key switch
ƒ The key switch contacts have already been provided by the necessary wiring. Connect
these contacts within the housing upon the switch.
ƒ When turning the key switch the cover will start opening or closing.
ƒ Standard the positions are spring-returned: it is always necessary to put the key in the
desired position. If desired, the positions can be tuned stay-put. For this purpose,
disassemble the key switch and remove the fiche corresponding to this position.

The EcoTop cover can be obtained with 24V transformer or with solar panel and batteries:

1. Traditional power supply

ƒ On the support situated at the motor side, the electrical wiring scheme affixed.
ƒ The motor and key switch have been provided with plugs which can easily be connected
to the clips.

2. Option: Solar panel with batteries

ƒ The various cables have to be connected to the charge controller.
ƒ On the support situated at the motor side it is possible to find the electrical wiring
scheme.
ƒ Always respect the following mounting order:
o Connect the batteries to the charge controller taking into account the polarity.
o Connect the solar panel to the charge controller taking into account the polarity.
o Connect the plugs of the key switch to the motor. This is the ultimate step.

F Use and maintenance

1. Opening and closing

ƒ Empty the swimming pool from obstacles and toys beforehand. The water
is in rest.
ƒ People, pet animals or objects must be kept out of and away from the pool for they may
obstruct the normal operation.
ƒ Check if the water level does not exceed the allowed level or equip the pool with an
automatic level control and overflow.
ƒ Keep an eye on the movement of the pool cover during the opening and closing.
ƒ In case of irregularities bring the pool cover immediately to a standstill by turning the
key switch.
ƒ It is not allowed to manually open and close the cover by force.

2. Maintenance

The slats:
ƒ At least twice a year the slats ought to be cleaned from lime and dirt using a high-
pressure cleaner. Special cleaning products are available at your AQUA-TOP dealer.
ƒ The open side of a transparent or solar slat can contain algae. Use an algaecide and
spread it over the cover. The water needs to meet the normal demands for chlorine- and
ph value.
ƒ The water temperature may not exceed the 32 °C.
ƒ The cover must be kept from organic and vegetal matter such as leaves, pine-needles,
grass etc. Rotting material stains the slats. These stains cannot be removed. Keep the
cover recess clean and avoid “dirt” between the winding of the slat cover.
ƒ Do not walk needlessly on the pool cover. The cover is not a playground for children!
ƒ When exposed to sunlight the slats must always be in contact with the swimming pool
water, this means floating on the water (the cover is closed) or rolled up around the shaft
under water (the cover is open). Without water, the slats must be protected against direct
sunlight (in the bench of a top- mount cover). Therefore, check the water level regularly.
ƒ At extremely low temperatures (frost) the slats become more fragile. The pool cover may
not be trod on or come into contact with hard objects.
ƒ During a hail-storm the pool cover must be opened in order to prevent damage.
ƒ The filtering installation must be operational when the cover is closed.
ƒ Just underneath the slats the water is strongly warmed up by the solar slats. The filtering
installation must be operational in order to distribute this heat and to cool off the slats.
In extreme situations damage to solar slats can occur when the heat immediately below
the slats is not circulated.
ƒ Condensation: the slats are air- and waterproof and finished with end caps. PVC lets the
vapour through and condensation in the closed chambers of the slats is inevitable. These
water drops are visible inside the solar and transparent slats.

MAN-AT-F Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 1

The external electrical motor

ƒ The motorpit must remain completely dry. Make sure no water seeps
through at high groundwater level or after a heavy shower. Motorpit
protection is obtainable in different ways.
ƒ In case the motor is overworked the thermal contact is activated. This may occur when
the cover is being operated all too frequently in succession or when normal functioning is
obstructed (automatic recovery after approximately 60 minutes).
ƒ When the swimming season has come to an end the electromotor is removed and kept
indoors. The installer can advise and assist you on this subject. The cover needs to be
blocked first or tied together to prevent it from unwinding!

Wintering

1. Pool in operation and frost free:

ƒ Normal operation of cover.
2. Pool not in operation: filtration stopped and water level fallen,….
ƒ First of all clean the cover thoroughly, over winter the slats rolled up on the winding
shaft.
ƒ Top-mount: protected from sun in a covered bench
ƒ Under-water mount: take measures to protect the slats against sun, clean the recess
(organic and vegetal material undergo fermentation which will discolour the slats)

EcoTop

ƒ Make sure that enough sunlight falls directly on the photovoltaic solar panel of the
EcoTop-cover. Therefore it is necessary to clean the panel regularly with a damp cloth.

Failures

ƒ In case of a malfunctioning or defective pool cover, always contact your AQUA-TOP

installer.

G Guarantee

GUARANTEE CERTIFICATE

Technics and Applications bvba, Klaus-Michael Keuhnelaan 9, B-2440 Geel, Belgium,

guarantees its delivered goods as follows:

The general guarantee period is 2 years for all components.

Exceptions:

For AquaGuard
¾ 7 years diminishing guarantee on the fabric. The fabric and the attached ropes form a single
entity. The value of the fabric is calculated on a pro rata basis per month from the date of delivery.
During the first 2 years, the new value is used, after which a 20% reduction of value is applied
every year.
¾ 10 years on the hydraulic mechanism. The hydraulic mechanism consists of the hydraulic
motors with the fastenings and couplings, and the reels for the ropes.
¾ 5 years on the powerpack. The powerpack is the hydraulic pump unit.
¾ Components subject to wear and tear such as sliders, pulleys, rope feeders, etc., do not fall
under the guarantee. A reserve set of certain components which may need to be replaced during
the first 2 years is included with the delivery.

For Elios
¾ 10 years on the EPDM rubber mats
¾ 5 years on the collecting pipes

Conditions

The invoice serves as proof of guarantee. The guarantee covers the costs of replacing rejected or
defective materials, to the extent that these form part of the delivery itself and are not the consequence,
either directly or indirectly, of misuse, unusual weather conditions or force majeure. If the complaint is
shown to be justified and accepted by T&A, we are only required to replace or provide compensation
for the articles or components to which the complaint relates. The complaint should be submitted to us
in writing within 7 days of the development of the problem.

Consequential damage and the costs of assembly, dismantling and transport are not covered by the
guarantee. The manufacturer’s responsibility ceases to apply if the defect arises as a result of
injudicious behaviour by the user or failure to comply with the instructions regarding installation,
connection and use.

Changes of colour may not be regarded as a defect, and are inherent to the product. Water seepage in
components which are not presumed to be watertight may not be used as the basis for a guarantee
claim under any circumstances.

Stainless steel beam support (930x40x45 mm)

To limit the sagging of the stainless steel beam. Advisable in case the span width measures 5
meter or more.

For pools with a width between 5,5 m en 6,5 m, 1 support is necessary for the solidity. For a pool
with a width of more than 6,5 m it is advisable to use 2 supports.

From an aesthetic point of view it is always advisable to install 2 or 3 supports. This is not
necessary for the solidity but for marks on the slats. If only 1 support is installed, the slats will
start to bend in the middle and the wheels will leave marks on the slat. When using 2 or 3
considerable less marks will be left on the slats.

Preparation:
ƒ The intermediate support is pushing against the rear wall of the niche. The wall and lining
has to be designed to resist this pressure load.

Attachment:
ƒ The wall plate is screwed to the top side of the wall with wood bolts and plastic anchors.

O6 Underwater mount mechanism in bottom: Movable panel for bottom

The movable lid is driven by the same type of motor as the cover itself. Both motors
are always external. The shafts go through the walls by means of 2 wall-passages.
The control box contains the circuits to drive the 2 motors plus a synchronisation
module.

Mechanics : the movable lid has a shaft that travels through the wall. A bar is
mounted on this shaft. The motor is mounted higher up against the wall. A reel winds
up a tape, thus pulling up the bar and making the shaft + the lid in the pool rotate. The
exact mounting positions of shafts and motor will be given by T&A per installation. It
is important that the lid cannot be rotated more than 80° in order to avoid it not
falling back into position.

Electrical : the controls of both motors are built into 1 electrical cabinet together
with a synchronisation module. Both controls are set for “safe mode” , this means
one has to keep the control buttons pressed down while the motor runs.

One can actuate or program one of the motors by pressing directly on this control.
Attention : make sure that the cover and the panel do not touch each other !

MAN-AT-O6 Installation guide Aquatop (2008) 1

First set the end-positions of the movable lid (see chapter E). Put the panel in Open
position. Now set the end-positions for the cover.

Only now one can use the general command buttons ! With the Open/Close/Stop
buttons the synchronisation module is controlled. One does not have to keep the
buttons pressed; a pulse is sufficient.

The synchronisation module assures the good order. At closing the cover : first the
panel opens, then the cover comes out and shuts the pool. At opening the pool : first
the covers rolls into the pit, then the lid closes.

If the cycles is interrupted by a stop commando r a power failure : this is not a

problem : at the next start command the cycle will continue without any interference
between cover and lid.

The synchronisation module is already connected when delivered. The motor

controls have already the power-supply and the control-buttons connected. Only the
motors need to be connected according to chapter E.

O8 Option: Connection set for slats

1. General
ƒ Different fixation points are mounted on the pool walls: on the side opposite the
mechanism and, dependent of the type of cover also at the side of the mechanism. The
connection sets are obligatory when installing the pool cover conform the French Norm
NF P 90-308.
ƒ De walls have to be solid at the areas of mounting the fixation points.
ƒ The fixation points are made of durable plastic and electro-polished stainless steel.

2. Position of the fixation points

ƒ The fixation points are always positioned at a distance of 500 mm of the pool walls.
ƒ The maximal distance between two fixation points is 2 meter.
