A birthday surprise
It is Rob’s birthday today. His parents have his present.
Dad: Happy birthday! Twelve years old!
Mum: Do you want your present?
Rob: Yes please!
Mum: It is somewhere…. Look for it!
Rob goes to all the rooms in his house. He looks under the bed in his bedroom, but he just sees old clothes. He looks
behind the sofa in the living room, and he sees some money, but that’s not his present. He looks in all the kitchen
cupboards, but there is only food. Finally, he says….
Rob: Help me, Mum! I’m so tired of looking!
Mum: Okay. Let’s look outside.
Rob: OK.
What can be outside? He looks out the front door, but there is nothing there. Then he looks out of the back door.
Next to the door is a big brown box and…. it’s moving! Rob opens the box and inside is a little dog! What a great
birthday present!
