Scientific and medical understanding is that sexual orientation is not a choice, but rather a complex
interplay of biological and environmental factors, especially with regard to early Uterine environment.
While there are those who still hold the view that homosexual activity is"unnatural" or "dysfunctional",
research has shown that homosexuality is an example of normalvariation in human sexuality and is not in
and of itself a source of negative psychological effects.

source of both solace and suffering for many lesbian, gay, bisexual,

THUS A This problem persists since longtime. Discrimination is born when one
feels that his identity is different from others and superior. They are
discriminated economically, socially and psychologically. LGBT face
discrimination not only at work place but also at home and schools. Other
communities due to their sexual and gender identity do not accept LGBT
communities. Insecurity of job and future prevails in their minds.
The next reason for presenting same-sex couples in books for children is the
necessity of raising tolerant and thoughtful members of the society who are
aware of the existence of different people. It does not concern only
homosexuals as people can differ in a various ways such as disabled people,
people of color and other religions believers. Therefore, it is important to
show their existence not to exclude the great part of the society from
children's world view thus depriving them of opportunity to learn more about
them and form a respectful attitude to all the groups of people presented in
the society. The images of different people in children's literature show them
the variety of the world around them thus teaching them to respect other
For years the LGBTQ community has, and continues to work hard to establish
their presence in society. In the past few years, states supporting marriage
equality increased and rights such as military benefits, joint tax filing, etc;
were also implemented. Today the LGBTQ community only continues to grow
and make progress. However, not all minorities in this community are making
the same progress as others. Those who identify as bisexual have reported
heightened feelings of oppression, Stigmatized, and isolation even from
within their own LGBTQ community. Furthermore, these feelings may not
only be a result of their sexual orientation, but their sex as well.
Religion has been a source of both solace and suffering for many

According to Barnet (1996), “…sexuality will determine the particular categorieswithin which individuals
come to understand and to name their own desires.” In the story,a line says, “…sa gitna ng madilim na
kwartong kaming dalawa lamang ang laman, ay dilang yakap at halik ang gusto kong isukli sa kanya
noong gabing iyon.” Such desire if uttered by a heterosexual will be very acceptable and even
encouraged, but if it comesfrom a homosexual even if there is sincerity, it will still viewed by many--
maliciouslyand often immoral. Conclusion It is a long way to go, if not impossible before our society
could accepthomosexuality with tenderness. The injury that it is inflicting and the living scars on theskin
of both the heteros and homos in our society will continue as man strives to live inthis diverse world. It
will keep on burning the fire of reality that whatever we do, acceptit or not, homosexuality is existing
and growing in our society. These homosexuals could be your parent, your sibling, your cousin, your
neighbor, your friend, the person sitting beside you, or you yourself. Therefore, the key I think is, the
culture of understandingand acceptance, thus according to Remoto (1994) “yes, we have come, we are
here, kapit bisig if you want it—voices that have long been silenced, people who have long lived onthe
margins of page, on the shadowlands of other people’s consciousness.”
