WRITING TASK 1 : THE PIE GRAPHS

The pie charts illustrate the results of a survey which compares the type
of cultural and free-time activities that boys and girls participate in.
Overall, boys generally prefer playing computer games and outdoor
sports while girls mostly took part in dancing and reading. In addition,
the percentage of both sexes that enjoyed listening to music is similar.
Taking a closer look at the first chart, playing computer games is the
most preferred activity among boys, with 34% of the boys. This is
followed by basketball with 26% participation rate. By contrast, there
are 2% of boys who choose to read in their free time, which is the lowest
among all activities.
Moving to the girls’ activities, the figure for dancing is higher than any
other activities, at 27%. In contrast to the boys' preferences, reading is
chosen by more than a fifth of all girls while gymnastics and netball
account for 11% and 15% respectively.

The pie charts compare various types of energy in terms of production in


France in two years 1995 and 2005. It is clear that the percentage of
Coal being produced was highest in both years. By contrast, the figure
for Other types of energy was by far lowest.
Energy produced by coal comprised of 29.80% in the first year and this
showed only a very slight increase of about a mere 1% to 30.9% in
2005. Likewise, in 1995, gas generated 29.63% which rose marginally to
30.1% 10 years later.
With regards to the remaining methods of producing energy, the figures
for nuclear power stood at 6.5% while that of other sources was 4.9%.
10 years later, there was an approximate growth of 5% in production
from both nuclear power and others to 10.10% and 9.10% respectively.
Petrol, on the other hand, was the only source of energy which decreased
in production from 29.27% in 1995 to around a fifth (19.55%) in 2005.

The pie charts give information about how much water is used in San
Diego, California and the rest of the world.
Overall, It is obvious that the water is used by residential in San Diego
country more than California and worldwide. In contrast, Agriculture in
worldwide uses water more than in the two American regions.
The percentage of residential water usage in San Diego country stands at
60%, there are 39% of water consumption in California. Meanwhile, The
rest of the world account for only approximately 7,5% than San Diego
Country. By contrast, the water usage of Agriculture in worldwide is
massive, at 69%, but only 17% and 28% the water consumption in San
Diego and California respectively.
With regards to the remaining consumption of the water usage, The
same percentage of industry water consumptions in San Diego and
Worldwide is 23%, While the figure for California is 10% higher, at
33%.
