Question : Environment modeling for the prediction of air and water

pollution AERMOD model of USEPA, and WASP Model - USEPA.

We know that the pollution all across the world is at a record high and

things are getting worse . The environment is getting seriously impacted by

pollution from different sources , like air pollution , water pollution etc due to

which we have reached a time where we are facing the consequences of

climate change , global warming etc . And this problem of pollution isn’t

something new , but it is something that was generated in the past as well

at high levels . So , the United States of America launched USEPA (United

States Environmental Protection Agency) to look after all this and find out

mechanisms to counter pollution and save the environment . So , leading to

that , the USEPA created two models to counter pollution from different

sources like air and water .

AERMOD
It was basically developed to assess the air pollution composition ,

concentration and other important details about the air pollution (“Air

Quality Dispersion Modeling - Preferred and Recommended Models | US

EPA”). Not only this , it is a very strong air dispersion model that helps in

dispersion of pollutants from a confined area which could be factories ,

restaurants , malls etc .

Not only this , AERMOD comes with a lot of features as well . We can

connect it with our own computers to get real time data . This data is then

used to take measures , form policies around how to control air pollution

and where does the government have to enforce to generate less pollution

WASP

It is a model that helps us in predicting the purity and specific details of

water quality on the basis of the pollution generated by people and pollution

from other sources as well (“Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program

(WASP) | US EPA”) . It also helps in analyzing different kinds of pollutants

in different kinds of systems like one , two and three dimensional systems .
