Reflections:

“What comes easy wont last. What lasts wont come easy.”

Back before I joined this class, I’d never imagine the improvement that I am gaining at
the moment, and this improvement is not only in scoring high points in a scrabble game, but
also in valuing practice and focus. I learned to love this game more than I have ever, not
because I find it easy to play (certainly not!), but because I know that I am earning something
that I can keep. It taught me more than the skills in vocabulary and spatial skills. It taught me
lessons like giving my best and grabbing the opportunity while I still can. I will always be
thankful for being able to take this class and find a better me in myself.
In this game, I am able to score higher than all of my past official games, and I am
aiming to be able to surpass this score on my 5th game. I am so glad that I continue to develop
in looking for the best move.
The following are the important points to take note from this game:

● Score Maximization - This time, I achieved my aim of giving my finest shot on every
move. Though I know that most moves are not the best possible, I am able to achieve
my goal in my last game to score more than 20 points in every move. Most words
scored above my average score (average score: 23) and I am able to create a bingo.
●Bingo - Being able to create a bingo does not only gave me the upper hand on this
game, I feel like it also made my opponent panic a little as the point difference keeps
rising. I think I got a little excited, too, towards the middle of the game that I started
to score lower. If only I hadn’t and be able to manage my rack better, I think I
would’ve been able to create more than one bingo.
● Premium Tiles - Taking the TW squares helped me be consistent with my score. I am
also able to score 40 points or more by taking the TL and DL squares.
●Balancing the Parallel Plays and the Long Words - In my opinion, this game had an
open board despite a lot of parallel moves were made. I think this is because there are
lots of long words placed. I noticed that these long words did not only gave me
openings to use for next moves, but also it keeps changing my tiles on the rack which
made it

● easier to manage.
Tile Tracking and Noticing the Blunders - Some blunder moves from the opponent
gave me an opportunity to keep the lead in this game. Also, in this game, I am able to
track the tiles left in the bag, and I noticed that the opponent could’ve scored higher at
some points in the game. I also think that she could’ve been able to get the spread as I
knew that the remaining tiles can create the word TONGUE connecting to GLIME,
however, the point difference is already difficult to surmount so I guess she considered
this to be not helpful anymore.

Scoring 400 points and above in scrabble seem to require a lot of effort for me in the
past, but now, it seems easier to achieve. In this game, I almost reached my highest score
according to the Scrabble Go App history which is 479 points. My next goal is to score 500 or
above even just for practice games. I hope I can prepare well for my last official game so that I
can do better than this game.
