The Electrical Installation and
Maintenance (EIM) is part of the
TECHNOLOGY and LIVELIHOOD
EDUCATION areas and it is an
Industrial Art.
This is an Exploratory Course
which leads you to Electrical
Installation and Maintenance
National Certificate Level (NC II).
It covers competencies that a
Grade 7 / Grade 8 Technology
and Livelihood Education (TLE)
students ought to possess
namely:
 Prepare Electrical supplies, materials
and tools;
 Perform Mensuration and Calculations;
 Interpret Technical Drawings and Plans
 Maintain tools and equipment; and
 Practice Occupational Health and
Safety
A person who has
achieved EIM qualification
is competent to be:
A. Building – Wiring Technician

 Building electrical panels and installing


electrical wiring and connections in
industrial environments;
B. Residential / Commercial – Wiring
Technician

 Building electrical panels and installing


electrical wiring and connections in
residential and commercial
environments;
C. Maintenance Electrician

 Preventive and unplanned


maintenance of electrical systems;
 Electrical fault diagnosis;
 Repairing faults in wiring and electrical
components.
Job Opportunities

Electricians tend to have high opportunities for


both local and abroad. They are one of the
highly needed workers in construction, power
generation plants, maintenance, and repair
shops.
Electricians are also needed in Australia,
Middle East and Canada. These countries
require highly-skilled electricians with enough
experience and expertise. A high salary with
competitive incentives awaits to those
deserving electricians.
Electricians may be employed in the
following industries:
Manufacturing; Construction; Wholesale and
Retail Trade, Hotels and Restaurants;
Transport, Real Estate, Renting and
Business Activities; Public Administration;
and Other Community, Social and Personal
Service Activities.
