MODULE 11: When you hear the words food security, what images, places,
characteristics come to mind? Spend a few minutes writing your impressions (a
couple sentences). You could also search for images that illustrate your thoughts.
Paste those images into your word document.

Taking the word food security, what comes to mind is the “security” of a
person’s stock on healthy food in a sufficient quantity. It is the ability of a
community, country, and/or individuals to have access to sufficient, safe, and
nutritious food that meets their food preferences and dietary needs for an active
and healthy life. Without proper food security, it might result into famine or may
cause people to resort to eating non-healthy “foods” like the “mud cookies”,
especially amongst people who lack power and suffers from poverty. Most
countries in the African Continent experience lack of food security.
