The path he took

Based on a poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost

There was once a lad who loves to travel. It was his lifelong hobby. He traveled day
and night, from weeks to months on end, even reaching years. He has traversed many
places from popular tourist places, tall and steep mountains, hidden rivers and
waterfalls, even barren islands. One day, during one of his adventures, he stumbled
upon a path; a two-way path with one leading to the left, and the other leading to the
right. The lad stood still, unable to make a decision. There are only two paths, and
since the lad is in the middle of nowhere, he eventually had to make a choice. And so,
he observed. He observed both of the paths' openings. The lad found out that the left
path's opening is full of traces of footsteps, horse carriage wheels, and the poor
grass was repeatedly stepped on. The right path on the other hand seems fairly new,
compared to the left path. There are no footsteps visible on the ground, and although
there may be traces of human activity, the traces left are very few. So few that, it
was not discernible to the naked eye; if there were any. And so, the lad decided. He
will take the right path. He began walking through the path. While walking, the lad
occasionally looks around the path. He would sometimes stop to observe a few
animals and plants that he encountered along the way. However in the middle of his
journey, he discovered that the path seems to be taken by a lot of people as well.
There are traces of footsteps and horse carriage wheels, not any lesser than the
ones he saw from the opening of the left path. The lad had mixed feelings from his
discovery. At first, he felt disappointment and regret. He felt disappointed for having
a wrong judgement and making a choice by judging based on something's
appearance. He felt regret because he thought he had been the first to find a
treasure. He also thought that if he knew beforehand that the right path was the
same as the left one, he would have chosen the latter since there is not much
difference between the two paths. He sighs and lamented, "Alas, even if I stood in
regret, nothing else will happen. It's not like I am willing to turn around and retake the
other path. Sometimes, one needs to make decisions; whether it will do good or bad."
In the end, he laughed it off and went on to continue his journey.
