Inquiry is the process of finding answers to question. The main aim of an inquiry is to solve
problems, resolve doubts, or augment knowledge. Inquiry is much easier to carry out than research
studies. An example would be an inquiry letter, wherein, there are multiple types of inquiry letter;
whether it may be a research inquiry letter for conducting research, a real estate inquiry letter for
buying properties, or interview inquiry letter for applying a job. Research, on the other hand, is a
careful study conducted using a systematic approach and scientific methods. A research study
typically involves several components: abstract, introduction, literature review, research design
and method, results and analysis, conclusion, bibliography. Researchers usually begin a formal
research study with a hypothesis; then, they test this hypothesis rigorously. They also explore and
analyze the literature already available on their research subject. This allows them to study the
research subject from multiple perspectives, acknowledging different problems that need to be
solved. Examples of research are research in the food industry, medicine, technology, human
behavior, etc. The difference between the two is that, inquiry serves to answer or solve an existing
question or problem while research conducts tests to gain new information or theories.

For me, as a learner in Senior High School, research is important to me in my daily life
because research helps me gain new knowledge. Research also helps me correct wrong
information that I thought was right before. Take conducting research for an assignment as an
example. I need to research in order to fully understand how I can answer my assignment. Another
example is during cooking. For the sake of a yummy dinner, I need to research the menu of a dish
so that I have a guide while cooking. The last example is when wanting to know more about my
idol/s. Doing research on their likes, dislikes, hobbies, favorite things, and other details will help
me to know and understand them better. Research is around us which makes it so important to our
daily lives, especially to us students.
