Introduction

What happens if a volcano erupts? The greatest destruction and

environmental degradation will occur, But, have you ever heard of a mountain

where when a volcano erupts, the volcanic eruptions turn into Shivalinga and

Nandi? One such amazing site is in the Vellore district.

Location

Kanchanagiri is located near the town of Lalapettai near Walajapet in

Vellore district. It is about 5 km from Kanchanagiri. Located in the distance is the

revised twist on the song Amidst dense vegetation, long curved mountain path.

Scattered rocks along the mountain path seemed to prove that the mountain was an

ancient volcano.

At the top of Kanchanagiri is a plain spread over an area of about 60 acres.

On one side of the plain, there is a huge Shiva lingam and Nandi. On one side of

the hill is a majestic banyan tree dating back to about 600 years, and near it are the

Sapta Kanniyar and Anjaneyar Sannidhis.

Trees like Achal, Senthuram, Sarakkonrai and Mayilkonrai are found all

over the hill. On the top of the hill you can see the sprawling Tirukulam and the

temple of Lord Murugan in front of it. Statues of Ganesha and Nagar were also

found nearby.
Once you cross the steps to the left of the mountain, you can see the amazing

view. Yes. Hundreds of tiny Shiva lingams and innumerable Nandi idols are on

display. These naturally occurring forms of Shiva amaze the viewer, In front of

them, Kanchanagriswara and Nandi Thevar, who have arisen spontaneously, give a

screw. There was also a tomb at that place. Devotees say that it is the tomb of Srila

Sri Sivagnana Swami.

Sivagnanam, a Malaysian businessman who came to know about this

mountain by the grace of Isan about 80 years ago, has been living here since 1938,

devoting his entire life, labor and property to this mountain. It is through his

dedication that the Murugan Temple, Tirukulam, Sapta Kanniyar and Anjaneyar

Sannidhi that we visited here all came into being. The temple was managed by his

disciple Kengammal on December 8, 1973, when Srila Sivagnana Swami attained

Sivapatham.

Legend

The legend of Kanchanagiri is very old. As the monster named Kanchan was

on this mountain, he came to pray to Thiruvalanatha and repent, The miser was

angry with Eesan, who had not shown remorse for a long time, and kicked and

chased away the priest who had come to perform the anointing of Thiruvalanathar.

The action of the miser who beat and tortured the priest who worshiped him every
day made Lord Shiva very angry. He ordered Nandi to kill the monster,

Nandiyemperuman also threw the monster into 10 pieces. Villages still exist today

in the name of the element where the monster fell. Tengal, Vadakal, Mani (Kkai)

Yampattu, Avarakkarai (Irakkulai) Lalapettai (Heart) Sikairajapuram (Head)

Kukaiyanallur (Waist), Maveri (Chest). After being killed, the monster's soul

begged Isan to apologize. Eason, on the 10th day of the monster's request, went to

all the towns where the monster's body parts fell and gave the monster a surprise.

According to the history of Tiruvalam, Nandi still sits in the Tiruvalam temple

looking back, wondering if any other asuras like him will come, even though

Kanchana has been destroyed.

The magnificent Manipara is located on the Kanchanagiri Hill. The sound of

the bronze bell echoed as he tapped the rock. The rock is said to be the continental

(neck) part of the monster. It is said that the sound of the bronze bell emanating

from the rock is heard in the Thiruvalam Vilvanatha Eeswarar Temple. The hill is

also known as Kanchanagiri due to the penance of Lord Kanchanagiri.

Kanchanagiri, which is a combination of natural beauty and the grace of Isan, has

the potential to captivate the viewer. Famous for its hill stations, it is one of the

quietest temples in the Vellore district. Kanchanagriswaran, who had mercy on the

monster, will give us Nallasi and do good.
