Introductory Message
This Self-Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that you, our dear learners, can continue
your studies and learn while at home. Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and
discussions are carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you step-by-step as you
discover and understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge on lessons in each SLM. This will
tell you if you need to proceed on completing this module or if you need to ask your
facilitator or your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the end of
each module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your learning. Answer keys are
provided for each activity and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher are also provided to our
facilitators and parents for strategies and reminders on how they can best help you on your
home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM. Use
a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and tests. And read the instructions
carefully before performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty in answering the tasks in this
module, do not hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.

Thank you.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful Ne
opportunities for guided and independent learning at our own pace and time. It is
designed to help you in identifying supplementary angles, complementary angles,
congruent angles, vertical angles, adjacent angles, linear pairs, perpendicular lines,
and parallel lines.
In this learning module the students will learn to derive relationships between
angles.

I
Choose the best answer among the given choices.
1. If ∠𝐴 and ∠𝐵 are supplementary angles, then 𝑚∠𝐴 + 𝑚∠𝐵 =_____.
a. 100° b. 80° c. 180° d. 90°
2. If 𝑚∠𝐴 + 𝑚∠𝐵 = 90°, then ∠𝐴 and ∠𝐵 are _____ angles.
a. cute b. right c. complementary d. supplementary
3. ∠𝐴 and ∠𝐵 are supplementary. If the measure of 𝑚∠𝐴 = 70°, then
𝑚∠𝐵 =_____.
a. 20° b. 30° c. 110° d. 60°
4. The symbol " ≅ " means _____.
a. not equal to b. congruent
b. perpendicular d. parallel
5. Linear pair is composed of two non-adjacent angles.
a. True b. Sometimes c. False d. cannot be determined

POINTS TO REMEMBER!

 Two angles are adjacent if they have a common side.

 Two angles are vertical if they are nonadjacent and formed by two intersecting lines.

 Two angles form a linear pair if they are adjacent and the non common sides are
opposite rays.

 Two angles whose sum of the measures is 90° are complementary angles.

 Two angles whose sum of the measures is 180° are supplementary angles.

 Congruent angles have equal measures.

 Perpendicular lines are lines that intersect and form right angles.

 Intersecting lines are lines that form various angle pairs.

 Angles in a linear pair are supplementary.

 Vertical angles are congruent.

’s New
Hello! Today we will derive the relationships of geometric figures. Together,
we will answer questions such as “How are angles related to each other?”, “How to
determine the measures of angles of angle pairs?”, “What are complementary and
supplementary angles?”

LINES IN A PLANE. If two lines are drawn in the same plane, then they might meet at a
point or stay the same distance apart and never meet.
Examples:

Two lines that are always the same distance apart are called PARALLEL LINES.
Examples:

Lines that meet are called INTERSECTING LINES. Intersecting lines can meet in such a
way that the four angles formed are all the same size. These are called PERPENDICULAR
LINES.
EXAMPLES:

3 NegOr_Q3_athematics7_Module2_v2
A 38° B 52°

∠A and ∠B are complementary since the sum of their measures is equal to 90°.
38° + 52° = 90°

107° 73°
D
C

∠C and ∠D are supplementary since the sum of their measures is equal to 180°.
107° + 73° = 180°

X 2
A

Two angles are adjacent if they have common vertex and a common side.
In the figure, ∠1 and ∠2 are adjacent angles since their vertex is at point A and their
common side is AY.

H F

Linear pair is composed of two adjacent angles whose measures have the sum of 180°.
These are adjacent angles that form a straight line.
∠1 and ∠2 form a linear pair with a common vertex H and a common side HE. Without
identifying the measures, it is obvious that the sum is 180° since a straight angle was formed.

K H

G L

Vertical angles are two nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines.
Vertical angles are congruent.
∠1 and ∠2 are vertical angles since they were formed by 2 intersecting lines GH and KL.

∠1 ≅ ∠2
The symbol “≅” means “congruent”.
