and geometry relationship.
Performance Standard
The learner is able to create models of plan figures and formulate and solve accurately
authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students can be able to:
a. define what is complementary angles and supplementary angles;
b. illustrate and derive relationship on pairs of angles.

A. ∠ATM and ∠ATH are complementary A
angles.
B. ∠ATM and ∠ATH are vertical angles.
C. ∠ATM and ∠ATH are adjacent angles.
D. ∠ATM and ∠ATH are perpendicular. M T H
2. If ∠A and ∠B are vertical angles, then what
conclusion is formed ?
A. ∠A and ∠B are complementary
B. ∠A and ∠B are congruent
C. ∠A and ∠B are adjacent
D. ∠A and ∠B cannot be determined
3. Which of the following statements best described about the two angles which
formed a linear pair?
A. The two angles are vertical.
B. The two angles are complementary.
C. The two angles are congruent.
D. The two angles are supplementary.
4. What do you call a pair of angles which is adjacent and whose sides that are
not common to them formed a straight line?
A. Congruent Angles C. Complementary Angles
B. Linear Pair D. Vertical angles
5. Which of the following measures defines a complementary pair of angles?
A. 45⁰ and 45⁰ C. 90⁰ and 100⁰
B. 105⁰ and 75⁰ D. 55⁰ and 40⁰

c. Review
Direction: Identify what kind of angle is given in each item.
1. m∡1 = 60
2. m∡2 = 88
3. m∡3 = 130
4. m∡4 = 90
5. m∡5 = 110
B. Presentation and Discussion
a. Activity
“Find and Complete Me!”
- Selected Student will read a note which is secretly put under their chairs. The
teacher will select another student to stand read his/her note to complete the
sentence.
b. Analysis
In Geometry, pair of angles are two angles that are related to each other.
Angle Pairs
1. Complementary Angles Two angles are complementary with each other if the sum of
their measures is equal to 900.
Example:

G
H
2
2 1 67⁰67 ⁰
1 F
E F

m∠1 + m∠2 = 90 Checking:

67 + m∠2 = 90 m∠1 + m∠2 = 90
m∠2 = 90 - 67 67 + 23 = 90
m∠2 = 23 90 = 90
2. Supplementary Angles Two angles are supplementary with each other if the sum of
their measures is equal to 1800.
Example:

2 1 95⁰
m∠1 + m∠2 = 180 Checking:
95 + m∠2 = 180 m∠1 + m∠2 = 180
m∠2 = 180 - 95 95 + 85 = 180
m∠2 = 85 180 = 180
3. Adjacent Angles are angles which have a common side and a common vertex
but no interior points in common.
Example:
P
In figure 1: T

∠𝑃𝑈𝑇 & ∠𝑇𝑈𝐺 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑨𝒅𝒋𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑨𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒔

UT is the common side and
• U Figure 1 G
Point U is the common Vertex.

4. Vertical Angles are nonadjacent angles formed by two intersecting lines.

∠1 & ∠3, ∠2 & ∠4 are vertical angles.

5. Linear Pair Two angles which are adjacent and supplementary with each other.
