KEMPAS TR 375 A

Trivalent Yellow Chromate Passivation for Zinc

KEMPAS TR – 375 A has been designed for zinc electroplating to provide high
corrosion protective surface without organic acid. By simple dipping procedure, TR-375
A will provide uniform, bright appearance with thick yellowish iridescence, which have
similar good adhesion with painting for chromate coatings. With top coat are able to
control of coefficient friction.

 FEATURES

1. KEMPAS TR 375A does not contain Hexavalent chromium .

2. KEMPAS TR 375 A provides uniform, bright passivation film at room
temperature.
3. KEMPAS TR 375 A have an outstanding performance in salt spray test,
offering protective surface more than yellow chromate.
4. Easy waste water treatment. KEMPAS TR 375 A is not contain organic acid.
5. Same equipment and same treatment conditions for yellow chromate.
6. It produces thick yellowish iridescent protective coating at room temperature.

and passivation bath.

ANALYTICAL CONTROL
Reagents needed:
 0.1N Sodium Thiosulphate solution
 10 % Potassium Iodide Solution.
 0.5 % Starch Indicator.
 Concentrated HCl Acid.
 30 % Hydrogen Peroxide

Appratus required:
 50 ml Burette  One
 250 ml Erlenmeyer Flask  Two nos.
 100 ml Graduated Cylinder  One
 10 ml Pipette  One

PROCEDURE

1) Take 2-ml. solution of Kempas TR 375A bath solution into 250 ml. conical flask.
2) Add 100-ml. DM water.
3) Adjust pH aprox. 10. (Colour change is green 10% NaOH – 10 – 15ml.).
4) Add 5 ml. H2O2
5) Boil solution 30 – 45 min. down to about 1/3 volume reduce & it is imp excess H 2O2
boils off.
6) Dilute the cooled solution adds 100ml. of DM water.
7) Acidify with conc. HCl (about 15ml.) to colour change from yellow to orange, may get hot
than cool again.

8) Add 4 – 5 ml. of 10% KI solution (dark red), add starch solution.

9) Titrate with 0.1 N Na2S2 O3 solution until dark colour disappear.

CAUTION FOR TREATMENT:

1. Either tap water or demonized water can be used for Bath Make-up.
2. Mild agitation of the solution by air or the parts movement will have more
advantages.
3. Dry in circulating air at a temperature not exceeding 120 OC
4. The parts which have fallen into the solution should be removed as soon as
possible, failure to remove these parts will decrease the life of the operating
solution.
5. The tank should be lined with polyvinyl chloride or rubber.
6. The basket may be used non-conductive material such as polyvinyl chloride or
rubber linings.
