GENERAL INFORMATION

ADRA Indonesia is seeking an experienced candidate as Health Promoter for Cianjur Response
for Earthquake (CaRE) project as summarize below.

Duration: December – February 2022, with possible extension
Closing date: 11 December 2022

BACKGROUND
Yayasan ADRA Indonesia is a humanitarian organization and belongs to the worldwide ADRA
network, comprised of more than 120 supporting and implementing country offices. The mission
of the agency is to serve humanity thus all may live as God intended. ADRA Indonesia aims to
build a positive working environment through Justice, Compassion and Love as its main values.
ADRA Indonesia has been working in Indonesia since 1981 and registered as a local Non-
Governmental Organization (NGO) in 1991. ADRA’s five core sectors include DRR, MNCH,
WASH, Livelihood and has more than 20 years of experience on disaster response across
Indonesia.

The ultimate outcome of the CaRE project is to provide assistance to earthquake affected people
in Cianjur, West Java with a combination of insecticide-treated bed nets, blankets, bedding and
tarpaulin to improved emergency tents, to ensure sufficient thermal comfort and enable safe
sleeping arrangements. The project also aims to support affected people in waste and debris
management, including sanitation and vector control.

FUNCTIONS OF ROLE
To develop strategies and work with earthquake affected community to address a wide range of
health issues, from vector control to water and sanitation and hygiene problems. Working with
community leaders in improving positive hygiene practices. Therefore, the promoter should build
good communication with local leaders, camp management coordinator, affected families and will
play a vital role in ensuring that effected people have access to health services and required
facilities to improve good health environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct rapid environment health assessment and design strategies for WASH improvement
in the affected areas
• Organize group awareness sessions regarding hygiene practices for community leaders, men,
women and children in community,
• Work with shelter technician to ensure sufficient thermal comfort and enable safe sleeping
arrangements.
• Work with community leaders to design and implement waste management, proper and safe
debris clearing, including how to remove asbestos.
• Provide weekly report to Project Manager and documentation of success stories link to the
WASH activities, including debris clearing management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• A bachelor degree in Health, Nurse or have professional experience in WASH promotion in
emergency context with minimum 2 (two) years of experience.
• Good knowledge on WASH, including waste management, vector control and debris clearing.
• Good knowledge for water sanitation and hygiene messages and SPHERE standards on health
intervention.
• Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with local community and members.
• Have skills to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, for effective coordination.
• Good communication skills of local languages speaking, writing, and listening.
• Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.
