Discipline: Physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation

Aims and tasks

* acquisition by students of knowledge about the mechanisms of action of physiotherapy and spa
treatment, indications and contraindications to their appointment;
* mastering by students of the basic principles of using physiotherapy and spa therapy in the treatment,
rehabilitation and prevention of various diseases;
* acquisition by students of knowledge of the appointment of physiotherapy procedures and spa
treatment and their basic techniques, taking into account the clinical diagnosis;
* acquisition by students of the skills of documentation of prescribed physiotherapy procedures;
* mastering by students of basic knowledge and skills, basic methods of physiotherapy treatment, taking
into account the effectiveness of their immediate and long-term reactions, as well as course effects;
* acquisition by students of the skills to rationally dose physiotherapy procedures and spa factors, taking
into account physical development, health status and aerobic energy exchange;
* acquisition by students of knowledge about recreational activities that contribute to the prevention of
diseases and health promotion.
* understanding the role of medical rehabilitation in preparation for professional activity;
* study of the theoretical and practical foundations of medical rehabilitation;
* formation of a motivational and value attitude to medical and physical culture as the main component
of a healthy lifestyle.

- Electrotherapy with direct currents of low voltage (Galvanization, Electrophoresis, Electro-sleep
therapy, Transcranial electroanalgesia).
- Alternating current electrotherapy (Amplipulse therapy, Ultratonotherapy, Fluctorization
Interference therapy, Darsonvalization).
- Magnetotherapy.
- hydro-, balneo-, thermo-, baro-, oxygenobarotherapy
- mechanical vibrations (ultrasound, massage, kinesiotherapy).

- Rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system.
- Rehabilitation of patients with respiratory diseases.
- Rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the digestive system, patients after surgery.
- Physiotherapy in obstetrics and gynecology.
- Rehabilitation with diseases and injuries of the central and peripheral nervous system, with

2. Impulsive current . Types and it’s characteristics . Electrosleep . Amplipulsive therapy .
Diadynamotherapy . Classification. Physical characteristics. The mechanism
of therapeutic action. Indications and contraindications.
3. Alternating current . Darsonvalization . Inductothermy. Microwave therapy. UHF and SHF.
Classification. Physical characteristics. The mechanism
of therapeutic action. Indications and contraindications.
4. Aeroionization. Hydroaeroionization. Aerosol therapy (atmiatrics). Inhalators and their types ,
rules of releasing and admitting inhalators . Drugs used for inhalation . Ultrasound therapy.
Ultrasonic phonophoresis. Classification. Physical characteristics. The mechanism
of therapeutic action. Indications and contraindications.
5. Phototherapy . Infrared radiation , ultraviolet radiation . Types of UV radiation. Laser therapy.

Hydrotherapy . Classification of Hydrotherapy (water procedures). Characteristics of the

7. The subject of restorative medicine. Stages of medical rehabilitation. Rehabilitation potential.
Health of a healthy person. Assessment of the effectiveness of rehabilitation. Physiotherapy as a
medical specialty and the science of using natural and preformed physical factors in the
treatment and rehabilitation of patients.

8. Sanatorium and spa therapy. Climatotherapy. Medical characteristics of the climate of the main
natural zones. Aerotherapy, heliotherapy, thalassotherapy. General principles of sanatorium
selection and treatment. General indications and contraindications to the referral of patients to
resorts.
9. Medical control in physical culture and sports, basic concepts, forms of goals, objectives,
anthropometry, functional tests. Means, forms and methods of physiotherapy exercises.
10. Rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system. The main mechanisms of
influence on patients are the pathogenetic links of coronary heart disease when using physical
therapeutic factors. Rehabilitation of patients with respiratory diseases. The main tasks of
rehabilitation in patients with a pulmonological profile. The mechanism of therapeutic effect.
11. Rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the digestive system, metabolic diseases and endocrine
diseases of patients after surgery The main effects of the use of therapeutic physical factors in
patients with gastroenterological profile. Principles of therapeutic nutrition.
12. Physiotherapy in obstetrics and gynecology. Spa treatment, forms of physical therapy, special
exercises.
