Case Study Discussion

Question#4
Barbara and Marvin Davis founded the Children's Diabetes Foundation (CDF) in 1977 in
Denver as a voluntary organization dedicated only to the funding of diabetes studies and the
provision of the latest patient care services for children and adults living with the disease.
The charity has collected more than $100 million for the Barbara Davis Childhood Diabetes
Center, caring for children with type1 diabetes. The CDF further strives to improve diabetes
knowledge, gives aid to parents, and organizes local events. The CDF runs various programs
for supporting diabetic children and their families (Children’s Diabetes Foundation, 2019).
Children Diabetes Foundation Advocacy Program
In this initiative, CDF involves young advocates ages 6-18 with type1 diabetes (T1D) to
portray a favorable response toward the disease by informing and raising awareness
regarding diabetes. Those teenagers aim to spread the message about diabetes and interact
with other T1D children. These young advocates should have the desire to change things by
volunteering for a worthy cause. These CDF advocates are open to sharing their T1D stories
with communities or the media.
They must commit to the CDF Advocate program for 12 months and finish at least 20 hours
of service. The young volunteers in the Denver region run education/awareness stations and
promote diabetes awareness at nearby schools or in the after-school programs.
They spend an entire or half-day at the Barbara Davis Center educating BDC patients about
CDF. They make handmade products and send messages to individuals diagnosed.
The Helping Hand Program
The Helping Hand Program assists service users in need with diabetic medications,
transportation and lodging expenses, health monitoring IDs, and more. The Helping Hand
Program provides help to needy families by,

 Providing Diabetes equipment, including insulin, needles, and testing kits, can

 Funding the emergency services such as a life alarm system or a hospitalization
 Providing meals in the COVID-19 epidemic
 Offering additional funding as needed
 Providing new young patients with mobile health IDs
 Covering the costs of appointment travel and lodging
 Holiday dinners and gifts are available.
Question#5 Response
Interdisciplinary health professionals are an essential part of health promotion.
Registered Nurses
They appraise overall health care needs, determining the proper service or treatment, care
provider, or tools for patient care. They give care and treatment, empower and
motivate people to take responsibility for their health, and offer preventative health
care information.
 Nurse Practitioners (NPS)
They are healthcare professionals who have additional qualifications and experience. Most
common ailments are managed by NPS, who also provide preventive education and care
for good health. They can recommend and assess a broad array of diagnostic procedures,
issue prescriptions, and reinstate various drugs. Furthermore, they can offer counseling and
therapeutic interventions throughout the illness. They can refer patients to other healthcare
providers (Thames Valley FHT, 2022).
 Nutrition Experts
They use their specialized skills and knowledge to ensure that the service takers follow the
concepts of good nutrition throughout their life. Nutrition experts can promote healthy
eating habits and sickness prevention initiatives, create strategic nutrition treatment and
restoration techniques to solve illnesses such as T1D and create strategic nutrition
treatment and restoration techniques to solve conditions such as T1D as well as create
strategic nutrition treatment and restoration techniques to control diseases such as T1D as
a part of an integrated team.
Pharmacists
They assist individuals and their families in managing their medicines. They help to find,
mitigate, and address dose-related issues. Pharmacists discuss prescribed and non-
prescribed medications and advise clients to take them efficiently and correctly. They are
also helpful in suggesting available pills, such as vitamins and botanicals, without
prescriptions. Family Medical Care pharmacists frequently collaborate with the family
doctor and local pharmacist to ensure that clients and their families get all the benefits of
their medications.
