Confession
a formal statement admitting that one
is guilty of a crime

Example
Lester went to the nearest police station
to voluntarily confess to the
commission of the crime. He have done
it in writing and with the presence of his
counsel, and would be serving a
sentence of 8 years.

Admission
a statement acknowledging the truth of
something.
To explain better, it is any statement of fact made by a party
against his interest or unfavorable to the conclusion for which
he contends or is inconsistent with the facts alleged by him.

Example
Ryan was interrogated by the police. He
admitted to the fact that he was
present at the place and time of the
crime occured, but denied his
participation in it.

Moreover, admission is a self-incriminatory statement by the


subject falling short of an acknowledgment of guilt.

While confession is simply acknowledging the guilt as a whole.
