Group Project (CO3, PO9)

Project management and finance (economics) is an important element in order to


demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering technology management
principles and economic decision-making and apply these to one’s own work, as a
member and a leader in a team, to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.
As a team in Strategic Planning Team, prepare a proposal project for Perbadanan
Kemajuan Ekonomi Negeri Perlis, PKENPs, for economic growth contribution in Perlis.
This proposal will give benefits to communities here. Projects can be any kind of nature
business, or services.

Proposal must have these criteria (guidelines):

1) The cover sheet and title of the project


2) Executive summary
The Executive Summary is a short, precise summary of your project proposal.
Please ensure to include a brief outline of your project description and how your
project contributes to the achievement of state development.
3) Company and organization
 Please describe your organization and address each of the points below:
 Vision and mission for your organization
 Structure of the organization
 Ownership of the Organisation
 Partners for this project and their role in the project (if applicable)
4) Project description
Background
 Please describe the need for the project and how the proposal was
developed.
 Explain why the project is being proposed.
 How it relates to indicator achievement?
 How it is innovative?
 Benefits of the project to your client, Perbadanan Kemajuan Ekonomi
Negeri Perlis (PKENPs).
The problems or opportunity statement
 What are the project addresses?
The goal
 What you intend to do to address the problem or opportunity
 The project should be ONE goal
The objectives
 Further, define the goal
 Clear, concise and focused as possible
 Objectives need to be stated in measurable terms and be specific and
consistent with the statement of need and the purpose of the proposed
project.
 Objectives should be formulated as a clear statement of what is
expected to be achieved through project implementation.
5) Location of the project/ Project site
 Identify the strategic location for your project
 Please describe the proposed project site to be used and the criteria for
its selection (if applicable).
6) Schedule or Project work plan
 This section of the proposal should present a detailed work plan for the
project.
 Milestones (major project phases or activities)
 The project planning process (tasks, precedence relationships and
duration)
 Gantt charts
7) Human Resources
 Please describe how and by whom the proposed project will be managed
and executed and identify how the knowledge, skills, and abilities
required for implementation will be met.
 Creates the worker level profile required.
8) Proposed Budget
 Your proposal should include a detailed Budget Justification explaining
an estimate for each line item.
 Include the financial point of view (Present, Annual and Future Worth
analyses) in the proposed Budget.
 However, your final conclusion may not be necessarily based on these
analyses. You may conclude based on Life-Cycle Cost (LCC) Analysis,
Environmental and Sustainable issue, technology forecast and so on (if
related).
9) Attachments
 You may also forward copies of other materials that may assist the
Project Selection Committee from PKENPs in considering your
application.

10) Project Presentation


At the end of the semester (weeks 15 and study week), project presentations
will be scheduled.
Each group member will present the proposal.
The format of the presentation can be as following:
1) POWERPOINT SLIDE (MAXIMUM 10 SLIDES)
2) PRESENTATION (15 MINUTES) & Q&A (10 MINUTES)

RY 55: 88 students = 8 members per group (11 Group)
RY 56: 12 students = 6 members per group (2 Group)
RY 57: 36 students = 7 members per group (1 group 8 members) (5 Group)
RY58: 50 students = 7 members per group (1 group 8 members) (7 Group)

* 1. Plagiarism (similarity index) will be check via Turnitin (have to be


below 20%). If exceeded, the marks will be deduct.
2. Peer review will be conduct to evaluate each member’s contribution
in team.
