Question # 19. Give an example of two resources for a fast food chain that you believe meet the
three “empirical indicators” criteria? (My example based: Jollibee Foods
Corporation)
Answer: A. Physical Resources – strategic location of the food chain like Jollibee Foods
Corporation they always consider the Vicinity Map of Proposed Site to
be evaluated. The commissary based of the raw materials. Jollibee has

and high- quality food in the most cost-efficient manner is made possible.
Jollibee has three Commissary System sites: Santolan, Pasig City; Mandaue City,

C. Organizational Resources – The building structure or the trademark of any company is


one of the resources that meet the criteria. Like Jollibee their image of a bee can
never be imitated especially if that is patented. Mc Donald, Max restaurant etc., has
its own image in their structure. Brand’s values also reflect on their advertising and
marketing. Jollibee knows their target audience very well: the traditional family and
all communication materials focus on the importance of family values, making
Jollibee the number one family fast food chain in the Philippines and a growing
international QSR player. The Code of Business Ethics has also uniqueness in
different company. Information System is also unique to different company like
Jollibee uses NetSuite OneWorld integrated with Oracle at headquarters.

-The firm culture shows a highly discipline personnel. Based on the firm vision and core values,

future.

Question # 21. Why is human resource management particularly challenging for international
firm?
Answer: Because of the factor of attachment and comport zone of people. The book gives the example
the family member of the personnel inability to adapt the new environment. This will lead to
premature returns, job performance affected, low morale, marital discord and general
discontent. Culture is one also challenge because any nationals that will settle in another
country will always experience culture shock. Government laws and policies on foreigner also
give challenge to the human resource management. Because different country have different
foreign policy.
