Title: GT-S8000 No network_No Service Autor: Franco Simonelli

Applicable Models GT-S8000

Problem No Service / No network

Defect : No Service / No network on model GT-S8000.; plugging in a Sim card the units doesn’t
receive any signal from the network; running calibration receive error “Check RF Cable”

Solution: Test* and eventually replace IC-Transcriver (TRT6285) U100; Code 1205-003297

Test*: Upgrade the units up to last release available, Check with an oscilloscope if the oscillator TCXO
(OSC100) works properly.
Misure: Check on pin 3 if there is a frequency of 19.2 Mhz even after the capacitor C142
Check on pin 4 is feeded (VCC) Vreg_Tcxo_2.8V
Check if the signal is present even on the pin 2 of the transceiver (RTR6285)
If the measure listed above are ok, check the feeding of Transceiver U100 /TRT6285
• VREG_RFRX1: 2.1V
• VREG_RFRX2: 2.7V
• VREG_MSMP: 2.6V

Check that Superheterodyne receiver works properly,

Make sure that there are signal I&Q in output of the transceiver U100 (RTR6285)
To do that it’s necessary generate an RF signal with the test set QPST **(Qualcomm PMG) and
enable GT-S8000 in RX mode (plug RF cable)
Select the same frequency created from test set and applied to the input of the receiver.
If the RX Section and the Transceiver (RTR6285) U100 works properly we must see the below signal
(see picture)

Highlighted the 2 signal I and Q

Setting QPST**

• Put the shoal in mode “generator” -50Dn on the channel 62

• Lunch the SW ”Factory Test Mode Application”
1. Select “COM1”
2. Select “FTM”
3. Select “ON”
4. Select “GSM 900”
5. Choose Channel 62
6. Select “Continuously Polling” and “Get RSSI”
7. Select “ON”
8. the figure shows >0 when the PBA is connected otherwise repeat the procedure
again
