Sales Training Proposal for Music99 Staff

The marketing manager of Stanton DJ Equipment wrote to the CEO of Music99 Stores to inform him about issues with the sales of Stanton's FinalScratch system in Music99 stores. After visiting several Music99 locations, the manager found that the sales clerks had little knowledge about FinalScratch and were either providing bad information to customers or steering them towards competitors' products. This was causing the poor sales. However, the manager believes that if Music99 sales staff attend a proposed training on the product, their sales will improve as they are everywhere else. Therefore, Stanton will require the Music99 staff to attend the free training to address the sales performance issues and prevent further losses.

Dear Jack,

How are you? I hope you are well. I am writing to inform you of my recent findings concerning
your sales team. I regret that even though I have made countless attempts to convince Stanton DJ
Equipment’s top management to be patient and see things from your point of view, the poor sales
of the FinalScratch system in your region seem to cause more agitation.
Last week I made stops in a few of the Music99 stores in a routine patrol to see how business
was doing with the FinalScrath product. A majority of your sales clerks seem to know so little
about the product and how it functions. The salespeople in these stores either give potential
customers bad information about it or steer them to products from our competitors. This is the
reason for the poor sales at the Music99 stores.
The good news is that I have managed to quell the agitation at Stanton DJ Equipment which
were geared at considering alternative supply chains in your region. After various considerations
and the overall analysis of the sales, we believe that if your staff attended the earlier proposed
training for the product, your sales will be strong as they are everywhere else.
I acknowledge the expertise of your salespeople at their work. However, being a new product
with unique features that make it a people’s darling, I regret to inform you that we will require
your staff to attend the free product training to ensure corrective measures in the sales
performance and save us from the imminent massive loss of potential businesses every week.

Yours Faithfully,
