Unit 5: Product review

1. I chose this phone because the adverts said it performed as well as its more expensive
competitors. For the price, it is pretty good value for money. The practical strong packaging
the phone came in also included a screen protector and cover, which saved me having to buy
them. The extremely attractive silver phone has a large clear screen, making it very easy to
use. It's not quite as fast as some major competitors, but it offers a fairly good performance. I
was impressed by the long-lasting lightweight battery and, although other reviewers said the
battery stopped charging after a month, mine charges perfectly.
The main downside is the new fingerprint ID system, which doesn't always work first time.
Another problem is the camera, which sometimes freezes, so I have to turn the phone down
and on to get it to work. However, the picture quality is great.
If you want a phone to rival the more expensive brands, I recommend the GKKFONE 2

2. I wanted a tablet to watch films when traveling. I bought it because a colleague had one
and I got a very good price -25 percent cheaper than other brands. What I liked most was
good size screen, making it very easy to use. Another good thing is that the tablet has clear
graphics.
The main downside is that the volume is not very loud, which is hard to hear, even with
headphones. Another problem is the battery is very poor and the screen is always dirty.
Next time, I will buy a more expensive one. I give this tablet three stars only.

Unit 7: External ‘thank you’ email

1. Dear Glen,
I am writing to thank you and your staff for the excellent service you provided organizing our
trade conference last week.
The event ran very smoothly thanks to the hard work of all your staff. I would also like to
express our appreciation for the prompt way in which your staff handled the problems there
were with some of the catering facilities. Your customer service team responded to the
difficulties quickly and none of our guests realised that anything was wrong. In fact, they
seemed to be able to deal with any problems that came up.
We will certainly use your company again in the future and have already recommended you
to other business contacts.
I would like to thank you and your staff once again and I look forward to working with you in
the near future.
Kind regards,
Ly

2.Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank your company for the excellent service we received when some of the
computers we had bought from you did not work properly.
We contacted your help desk immediately and the person I spoke to was very friendly and
obviously knew a lot about the product. He apologized for the problems we were having and
suggested that he could exchange the computers or send out an engineer to solve the
problems.
We decided that it would be better to have new computers and they arrived the next morning.
One week later we received a phone call from your customer service department asking us if
everything was now OK. We were happy to report that there were no more problems.
I would like to thank you once again for your prompt and excellent service and we will
certainly use your company again.
Kind regards,
Cam Ly

Unit 8: Short report

1.
Introduction
There have been some problems recently due to poor communication so we need to have a
new communication policy for the company. This report looks at issues for communication
problems between departments and finally makes recommendations.
Finding
One of the key reasons is that warehouse staff are unhappy with the sales staff who take
updates for goods which are out of stock. Last week we had a big order for fridge-freezers
and there were none in the warehouse. It seems that the sales department had not checked
stock levels before accepting the order. The Sales Manager complained that no one had
updated the stock records. Stock systems ought to happen automatically but they do not. It
seems that staff expect the technology to do everything and will not talk to each other.
Recommendations
It is therefore recommended that department managers monitor orders more closely and make
sure that any problems are reported Immediately so everyone is aware of them. There should
also be morning meetings for all department heads to exchange information.
