The importance of following directions

Paying attention, following instructions, and listening are some of the most important skills. In order to
have efficiency and organization, instructions and listening are strongly enforced. Listening to
instructions are very important skills throughout a person’s life. It makes things easier to do, it
guarantees that things are done right, it eliminates confusion, and it saves a lot of time overall. When
the instructions of the teacher are followed, things tend to go smoothly and work well. In the military
when it comes down to drills like firefighting, the ability to instinctively follow directions saves lives. The
discipline and training to follow directions or, along the same line, instructions, give a person a clear
objective in a situation where fear or indecision might otherwise cripple one's ability to think clearly. In
others, it can impact opportunities for career advancement. In virtually every work environment,
following instructions has the potential to impact one’s day-to-day stress levels and overall quality of
life. if you are part of a team in an organization and the team is given a specific task to be completed
within a certain period, it is of the extremely importanct that everyone follows the orders given to them
for the team to be able to complete the task efficiently. The inability of a single person to follow given
orders will slow down the entire team as someone else will have to take on he added responsibility
initially bestowed on the inefficient member, and some tasks will probably have to be done all over
again.
