Anchor: We can have (Name Reporter) to give us insights on what is happening now at

the United Nation General Assembly.

Field Reporter: I’m at the United Nations headquarters here at New York City where
all of the world’s leaders that are part of UNGA (United Nation General
Assembly) gathered to discussed important issues especially the status of
Palestine in the United Nation. The General Assembly is one of the active
organs of the United Nation. It is the UN’s main deliberative policy making
and representative organ. Furthermore, it has 193 member states. In the UN’s
general assembly all countries small and large have one vote and the same say,
all of which are being well represented. All members of the states are
committed to follow the constitution of the United Nations. The UN charter
where peace and security, human rights and sustainable development are the
center of the topic. This assembly decides on important questions such as
those peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, it
requires a two-thirds majority vote of the General Assembly which is
equivalent to 66.67% or more. The whole assembly is headed by the General
Assembly President which changes with each annual season.

Palestine Pres: Mr. President, Ladies and Gentleman,

Every voice supporting our endeavor today is a most valuable voice of


courage, and every State that grants support today to Palestine’s request for
non-member observer State status is affirming its principled and moral support
for freedom and the rights of peoples and international law and peace.

In our endeavor today to acquire non-member State status for Palestine in the
United Nations, we reaffirm that Palestine will always adhere to and respect
the Charter and resolutions of the United Nations and international
humanitarian law, uphold equality, guarantee civil liberties, uphold the rule of
law, promote democracy and pluralism, and uphold and protect the rights of
women.

As we promised our friends and our brothers and sisters, we will continue to
consult with them upon the approval of your esteemed body our request to
upgrade Palestine’s status. We will act responsibly and positively in our next
steps, and we will to work to strengthen cooperation with the countries and
peoples of the world for the sake of a just peace.
UN President: A recorded vote has been requested we shall now begin the voting process
those in favor on the resolution of Palestine please signify. Those against and
also those abstention.
Secretary: The general assembly is now voting on draft resolution A/67/L28 entitled
status of Palestine in the United Nations with all delegation confirmed that
their votes are accurately reflected on the board.
UN President: The voting has been completed please show the result
Secretary: The result of the voting is as follows in favor 198, opposed 9, abstentions 41
Field Reporter: So, the vote has just been taken place in the UN general assembly and a
rousing victory for the Palestinian bid their 138 voting for the resolution to
upgrade their status, 9 against and 41 abstentions thus recognizing Palestine as
