Service Learning Project Proposal

Service-learning is a course-based, credit-bearing educational experience in which students participate in an

organized service activity that meets identified community needs and reflect on the service activity in such a
way as to gain further understanding, broader appreciation, and an enhanced sense of personal values and
civic responsibility.

The Service Learning Project Proposal of the NSTP is an Indirect Service-Learning - project that benefits the
community as opposed to specific individuals (i.e., coastal clean-up, improvement of the school building,
resource mobilization, food and clothing drives).

Task: Think and reflect on the issues that your community might be facing right now (pollution, illegal
drugs, mental health, waste disposal, etc.). Then, if ever given a chance to create a group for a good cause
and mission, what would that be? Propose an organization and identify the mission or purpose of this group.
