1. ORIGIN AND HISTORY
Lacrosse's origins can be traced back to Native
Americans.
Since there was only one ball, the players
concentrated on injuring the opponent with their
stick. Sometimes the game could go on for days.
The tribes that played lacrosse did so on fields
hundreds of feet away. They used their wooden
sticks to pick up and throw the ball or to hit their
rivals. The goal was to get the ball to the designated
area. The team that managed to move the ball to the
other end won the game.
For the tribes who played it, lacrosse was a sacred
sport, it was "The Creator's Game." These annual
matches were authentic battles in which they settled
all the debts that they had during the year with the
rival tribe.
