A. Draw a diagram for the following vectors: (1 point per problem- diagrams, 1 point per problem
application of the idea)

1. 20 degrees South of West

2. 300 degrees East of South

3. 60 degrees North of West

4. 33 degrees North of East

5. 180 degrees North of South (Hint: diagram could be represented two ways)

B.

(1 point- diagrams, 1 point-formulas, 1 point- application of the idea, 1 point- using correct unit,
1-correct answer)
Horizontal line
θ= adjacent
Hypotenuse

COS 32= A
63.5

63.5 COS 32= A

HORIZONTAL LINE =63.85 MS-1

θ= opposite
Hypotenues

SIN 32= o
63.5
63.5 SIN 32= O
VERTICAL LINE = 33.65 MS-1
C. A camper is hiking along the Blue Mountain Range. He decides to travel 20 miles west then 5 miles
north before coming to a complete stop. After resting, the camper continues to walk another 40 miles
north then 10 miles east to reach his destination. Calculate the camper’s displacement. (1 point diagrams,
1 point-formulas, 1 point- application of the idea, 1 point- using correct unit, 1-correct answer
HYPOTENUSE= √ -10^2+45^2
=√ 100+2025
HYPOTENUSE =√ 2125
HYPOTENUSE= 46.10 m

TAN θ= 45 = -4.5
-10

θ=TAN-1 (-4.5)= -77.5 °

Answer- 46.10m, 77.5° North of east
