aSTEMble!: Reigniting Del Pilarian's STEM Pride and Prowess amidst the New Normal

Activity: Essay Writing

Description: As future professionals in the fields of science and mathematics, we take pride in not only our
knowledge in those fields, but also our ability to comprehensively and effectively express our innovative ideas. It’s
time to showcase these talents in expression through the practice of essay writing.

Theme:
Will be given on the competition proper

Mechanics
- Must adhere to the given theme.
- Must be written in the English language.
- Must not exceed the word limit of 1000 words.
- Must provide a related title.
- Must finish writing your essay within the given time frame of 1 hour.
- Must write your provided contestant number on the upper left corner of your paper.
- Must submit your finalized essay written in permanent pen ink, and NOT in pencil.
- Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned mechanics will be deemed disqualified.

Note: The activity facilitators will provide the sheets of intermediate pad paper.

Criteria:
Content - 40%
Creativity/Originality - 30%
Grammar - 20%
Title - 10%

Activity: Pagsulat ng Sanaysay

Description: As future professionals in the fields of science and mathematics, we take pride in not only our
knowledge in those fields, but also our ability to comprehensively and effectively express our innovative ideas.
Moreover, as Filipinos, we utilize the Filipino language almost just as often as English in our fields of work. It’s
time to showcase these talents in expression through the practice of ‘pagsulat ng sanaysay’, with Filipino as our
medium to revive & support STEM talent in Filipino writing.

Activity: Poster Making

Description: STEM’s future professionals also harbor skills in design, may it be from their Architectural and
Engineering interests, or perhaps a simple innate talent they keep. This serves as another opportunity for them to
further develop and showcase their talents in the arts, through constructing a creative and meaningful poster that
catches everyone’s eye and captures hearts.

Theme:
Will be given on the competition proper

Mechanics:
- Must adhere to the given theme.
- Must utilize traditional mediums of art. (e.g. colored pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, etc.)
- Must utilize the standard 9” x 12” oslo paper OR other paper types best for your art medium with the exact same
size of 9” x 12”.
- Must finish constructing your artwork within the given time frame of 1 hour.
- Must write your provided contestant number on the upper left corner of your paper.
- Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned mechanics will be deemed disqualified.

Activity: Science Individual Quiz Bee

Description: As STEM students, we’ve always been stocking up on countless information about various scientific
and mathematical concepts without being able to make use of them outside these classroom-administered activities.
Years are still ahead of us before we can utilize these studies through our various professions, so why not make use
of that knowledge, at the same time develop it by taking part in these Science and Math Quiz Bees?

Mechanics:
- The quiz features three rounds: easy, average, & difficult.
- The easy round consists of multiple choice questions, weighing 1 point each.
- The average round consists of identification-type questions, weighing 3 points each.
- The difficult round consists of identification-type questions, weighing 5 points each.
- Each question will be read twice, afterwards a signal sound will be played to indicate the start of the timer for
answering.
- The time duration for answering on each round are the ff: easy-10, average-15s, difficult-30s.
- Must bring your own ⅛ illustration board and chalk.
- Bringing of the periodic table of elements and scientific or any type of calculator is NOT allowed.
- The three participants with the highest number of points acquired will be awarded 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places
accordingly.

Activity: Section Cheer Competition

Description: iRISE hosts this STEM General Assembly to unite the MHPNHS STEM student body after years of
restrictions caused by the pandemic. This Section Cheer Competition serves as one of those unifying activities, all
the while showcasing each section’s STEM pride and prowess!

Shout, cheer, and bust a move! Embody your section’s spirit and provide the audience an introduction they’ll never
forget with a cheer that represents your section’s unique character and principles!

Cheer Topic:
Section, STEM, & STEM Specialization Representation

Mechanics:
- Must involve the majority of the students of your class/section as performers. (More than 50%)
- The minority of the class may be involved in the production of props. (Less than 50%)
- Must NOT utilize any digital music.
- The cheer’s duration should not be less than 45 seconds and should not exceed 3 minutes.
- Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned mechanics will be deemed disqualified.
