LEARNING OF THE WEEK

REACTION PAPER NO. 1

NAME: DUA, ALTHEA ALVA DEANNE C. DATE: OCTOBER 22 2022

COURSE & YEAR: 2C BSED- ENGLISH

TITLE OF THE TOPIC: MODULE 3- Development of Tools for Classroom-Based Assessment

The three (3) most significant learning that I got from the week’s session:

During the week’s session I learned how to contract a two-way Table of Specification (TOS).
Teachers need to build TOS by listing the instructional objectives across the top of the table. It
basically spells out WHAT will be tested and HOW it will be tested to obtain the information
needed. WHAT covers two aspects: the content area (i.e., subject matter) being covered and
the target learning outcomes (i.e., competencies). HOW specifies the test format, i.e., the type
of assessment question or task to be used and the item distribution to attain an effective and
balanced sampling of skills to be tested.

I also learn to identify the different types of test items. Some of the types of test items are
constructed-response type, selected-response type, completion type, short answer items- ask a
test taker to synthesize, analyze, and evaluate information, and then to present it coherently in
written form; essay type (restricted-response type and extended-response type), binary choice
or alternate form, multiple-choice items-are a question where a candidate is asked to select the
correct response from a choice of four (or more) options; and matching type- requires test
takers to connect a definition/description/scenario to its associated correct keyword or
response. Understanding the purpose of your exam will assist you in devising a strategy for how
to best set it up, including the type of exam to use and the types of exam items that will
measure students' skills the most accurately.
