LEARNING OF THE WEEK

REACTION PAPER NO. 4

NAME: DUA, ALTHEA ALVA DEANNE C. DATE: NOVEMBER 15,2022

YEAR & SECTION: 2C BSED-ENGLISH

TITLE OF THE TOPIC: MODULE 4: INTERPRETATION OF ASSESSMENT RESULTS

The three (3) most significant learning that I got from the week’s session:

The topics that I learned during the last session would be all about the different types of test
scores. Typically, test scores are given. The academic merit of students and the educational efforts of
schools are now determined by grades and test scores. Teachers have shifted their attention to the
content of what is being taught because of the importance of grading and test scores. Some types of
test scores are raw scores; percentile, ranks, z-scores, stanines; or level, category or proficiency scores.
Raw scores are gotten by just counting the quantity of right reactions in the test following the scoring
headings. Percentile rank indicating the percentage of test takers' scores that are lower than those of
the comparison group. A z-score describes scores in terms of its standard deviation, or distance from the
mean. If the value is above the mean, the z-score is positive, and if it is below the mean, it is negative.
Standard scores are derived scores that compare a student's performance to the distribution of scores
above and below the arithmetic mean by utilizing the normal curve.

I also learned about the types of test scores interpretation which classified into two the Norm-
referenced interpretation and Criterion- reference interpretation. An explanation of a student's
performance in comparison to that of other students in the same age or grade is known as a norm-
referenced interpretation. The learner's position within the norm group is used to evaluate their level of
knowledge. In norm-referenced interpretations, standard scores and percentile rank are frequently
used. By describing what the learner can and cannot do considering a standard, criterion-referenced
interpretations give test scores meaning. Therefore, test scores permit absolute interpretations rather
than comparisons. A predetermined criterion of mastery is used to explain a student's performance.

Lastly, I learned the different approaches in grading. Grade notations come in a variety of forms.
These are Numerical grades that include numbers in grading. Letter grades are a grade assigned by
letter of the alphabet, with an A typically representing the best work. A plus or minus sign may also be
used to indicate a passing grade, with an A-minus (A-) being superior to a B-plus (B+), and so on, Two-
category grades (Pass-Fail; Satisfactory-Unsatisfactory), Checklists, and Standards-based (Advanced,
Proficient, Beginning or Similar).
