Positive: >= 1.1
IgM Elisa - Report Negative
IgM Elisa - Value <=2.0 Negative: <= 2.0
Equivocal: > 2.0 and < 3.0
Positive: >= 3.0
IgG Elisa - Report
IgG Elisa - Value Negative: < 0.8
Equivocal: >= 0.8 and < 1.1
Positive: >= 1.1
Method ELISA: Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay
Interpretation 1. Diagnosis should not be based on a single test but should be made by a clinician after taking into
account all clinical findings and other investigations
2. NS1 Antigen is usually detectable in serum during the first week of infection. However, negative
results do not preclude the possibility of infection.
3. Samples collected late in the infection (after 7 days of symptoms) may be negative for NS1
antigen
4. After 5-7 days of onset of symptoms, anti-Dengue IgM antibody becomes detectable.
5. Presence of IgG antibodies indicates past infection. A secondary dengue infection with a
different serotype may show antibody-dependent enhancement of infection with more severe
illness.
6. Serological cross-reactivity can occur across flavivirus group.
7. Other conditions may show cross-reactivity for Dengue antibodies such as Leptospira, Hepatitis
A, Influenza A&B, Salmonella Typhi, Japanese Encephalitis, Epstein-Barr virus, Rheumatoid
arthritis, etc.
8. False negative antibody tests can occur in immunocompromised patients,
9. In the case of Equivocal results, kindly collect & send a fresh sample after 3-10 days.
