1. The data for the load for 24 hrs is as follows:

2. ‘n’ components, each with a reliability of 0.8, are connected in parallel. The incremental reliability with ‘n’
components is equal to (R(n)-R(n-1)), while the comparative reliability with ‘n’ components is calculated as
(R(n)-R(1))/R(1)*100, both for n > 1. Calculate and plot the incremental and comparative reliability as n varies
from 1 to 5. How can this data help you decide the values of ‘n’? Repeat the calculations for R=0.9.
3. For the network shown below, find the reliability value (R) if each component is 98% reliable.

4. Find the value of R for the network shown below for the following cases. The first S represents the switch, and
the second is the switching mechanism. (i) The switch S is 100% reliable with perfect switching. The components
A, B, C and D have R = 0.9,0.96, 0.99, 0.8, respectively. (ii) The switch is 100% reliable, and the switching
mechanism is 92% reliable. (iii) The switch is 98% reliable, and the switching mechanism is 92% reliable.

5. Evaluate the reliability of the network shown below using (i) the conditional probability approach and (ii) the
cut set method. Every component is 99% reliable.

6. Draw an event tree and a reduced event tree for the network shown below. Also, find the network’s reliability
using(i) series-parallel combinations and (ii) the event tree. Every component is 90% reliable.
7. For the network shown below, find the equivalent failure rate, repair rate and unavailable time. The system
data is also given below.

8. If every component of Q. 7 is maintained once every year and the maintenance time of each component is 10
