Linkin park:
Linkin Park is an American rock band from Agoura Hills, California. The band's current line-up
comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson,
bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/turntablist Joe Hahn and drummer Rob Bourdon, all of whom are
founding members. Vocalists Mark Wakefield and Chester Bennington (deceased) are former
members of the band. Linkin Park's earlier music spanned a fusion of heavy metal and hip hop,
while their later music features more electronica and pop elements.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling
music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide.
“One step closer” was written by Chester Bennington to express the anger he felt growing up.
He didn't fit in well and got beat up a lot. The single was released on September 28, 2000 and
immediately was picked up by rock radio, getting massive airplay and getting Linkin Park
nationwide recognition. On January 13, it reached 2nd position in billboard charts.
Linkin Park took “In the End” all the way to No. 2 on the Hot 100 in 2002 — as the fourth
single off “hybrid theory” incredibly. So many parts of “In the End” have become iconic. The
chorus (“But in the end…it doesn’t even matter”) is iconic. On January 5th, the single reached
1st position in billboard charts and remained for six weeks.
Linkin Park has helped raise money to benefit victims of Hurricane Charley in 2004 and
Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
They also helped relief efforts for the 2004 Tsunami victims by staging several charity
concerts, and setting up an additional fund called Music for Relief.
Music for Relief was founded by the band Linkin Park in response to the 2004 Indian Ocean
tsunami.
In the wake of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, Linkin Park played at Club Nokia during the "Music for
Relief: Concert for the Philippines" in Los Angeles, and raised donations for victims.

Linkin Park are helping mothers and babies have safer beginnings in Africa by donating money
to We Care Solar, and they're doing it to honour Chester Bennington.
Linkin Park, through their “Music For Relief” charitable organization, made a donation to Save
the Children to provide support to children and families affected by the heavy rains that have
devastated northern Peru. The band, on their “One More Light”, world tour, donated one dollar
for each ticket sold.

Save the Children will use this contribution to support a fund for the victims of Piura, one of the
regions worst hit by the flooding and heavy rains that spanned several months.

"One More Light" is about remembering, and caring about someone after they have died.
Chester Bennington's close friend and musician Chris Cornell committed suicide by hanging.
When Chester heard the news, it made him extremely upset, as the pair had known each other
for years.
The loss of his friend affected him and the band so much that they decided to perform the song
"One More Light" in his memory at the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show in Los Angeles, was a fitting
song for them at that time because of its themes of dealing with the loss of a friend or loved
one.
Chester began to talk more openly about some of his struggles. He had previously revealed that
he was a victim of child abuse and rape, but also talked about his mental issues, as well as his
battles with drugs and alcohol.
Midway through the “One More Light Tour”, On July 20th 2017, Linkin Park released a music
video for "Talking to Myself" on YouTube. They were unaware that the same morning, Chester
Bennington had died in his home in Los Angeles at the age of 41. His death was ruled as a
suicide by hanging.
On September 18th 2017, Linkin Park released the music video for the song "One More Light",
dedicated to Chester
"One More Light was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. We
now find ourselves on the receiving end. In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all
over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for
the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to
see you again." - MIKE SHINODA
