Wikipedia over the years has become a powerful

source of information for students, as it provides
exactly what they are looking for: A portal with clear
and concrete information that is not complicated to
use. According to Neil Selwyn and Gorard "Our
findings seem to support the conclusions of previous
studies that it does not make sense to recommend
that students do not use Wikipedia or to try to ban it
altogether. However, it clearly makes sense that
more effort should be directed toward helping
students become critical and competent users of
Wikipedia as part of their information gathering and
sense-making practices." Therefore, it is advisable to
inquire about the veracity of the information acquired
from the site and to be cautious with the platform.
