Literature Review: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt world-wide
in the past year and a half since it’s birth. One institution that has felt the impact of the
virus the most is that of education. While looking at the impact of on-line learning due to
the virus in the region of Serbia, Milicevic et al. (2020) suggest that, “The COVID-19
pandemic has significantly affected education, and there is a high potential that it will
exacerbate pre-existing educational problems and inequalities in the region.” These
problems stem from little to no support for a technological infrastructure when on-line
learning becomes necessary. Stankovski et al. (2019) claims, “Most countries, however,
have not worked to improve the technology of online education alone by providing good
platforms to support it.”

effects on time-management, and students who use an e-learning platform have better
time-management strategies.”  This is due to students that are taking online classes not
being told what class to go to and when, which is seen in a traditional school model.
Online learning requires students to create and manage their own schedule and hold
themselves accountable for their success within the course.
One last issue that is worth reviewing in regards to online learning are the digital
learning tools used to create lessons and engage students. One of the key educational
platforms used during this last school year was Google Classroom. As Shaharanee et al.
(2021) states, “Google classroom can be used for synchronous teaching using Google
meet or asynchronous teaching using Google classroom. Asynchronous teaching and
learning allow students to use material anytime and anywhere without time limit.”
Santosh (2020) claims, “Online classes are the best way of utilizing the lockdown time to
make up the loss of academic period. Google classroom is an effective tool for teaching
and learning online classes because of its ease of use and features which are both teacher
