This study aims to prove that the oil filtration can made used cooking oil can be
filtred in to new oil.

2.2 SUB-PROBLEMS:

1. Is there any good benifets for this oil filtration?

2. What are those?
3. Is this really safe to do?
2

III. Significance of the study

You can make used cooking oil to new cooking oil using the filtration method.
This oil is very common especially for street vendors, and aside of its availability;
it is easy to cultivate. It contains many components for benefits.
The following listed below are the ones who will benefit in this study:

I. Review of Related Literature

The leaves also have a repellent effect on cockroaches. Numerous stamens

form the Hypothesis of this study is that it is possible to make soap out of guava
leaves. Choosing an appropriate fruit shouldn’t be lost here either. Quercetin is
thought to contribute to the anti-diarrhea effect of guava; it is able to relax
intestinal smooth muscle and inhibit bowel contractions.
The plants are normally tall and fairly sturdy and are often mistaken for
trees, but their main or upright stem is actually a pseudo stem that grow.
Most of these studies confirm the plant’s many uses in tropical herbal
medicine systems. Like guava leaves, it contains both major antioxidant pigments
among plant foods. These natural ingredients namely: A literature review is the
effective evaluation of selected documents on a research topic. A soap made of
guava leaf extract would surely be useful to those people who have acne and
wounds.
The respondents to this is the people who have skin wounds. Review of

this plant seemed worthy of an in depth review.
Medicinal plants are an essential constituent of the indigenous medical systems
around the world. These resources are part of their traditional knowledge. Up to
date ethnopharmacological studies show that Psidium guajava is used in many
parts of the world for the treatment of a number of diseases, e.g. as an anti-
inflammatory, used in the treatment of gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, dysentery,
diabetes, hypertension, caries, wounds, pain relief and reducing fever. Some of
the countries with a long history of traditional medicinal use of guava include
Mexico and other Central American countries including the Caribbean, Africa and
Asia.

Psidium guajava (Guava), belonging to the Family of Myrtaceace, which is

originated in Mexico and extends all over the South America, Europe, Africa and
Asia. Based on archaeological data, it has been used widely and known in Peru
since pre-Columbian times. Psidium guajava grows in all the tropical and
subtropical areas of the world, adapts to different climatic conditions but prefers
dry climates. The main habitual use known is an anti-diarrhoeal. Other reported
uses include gastroenteritis, dysentery, antibacterial colic pathogenic germs of
the intestine.

Acerb sodium carbonate or sodium hydrated oxide is a strong base soluble in
H2O. Produced by the electrolysis of salt seawater. It is available on a broad
industrial graduated table.

Acerb sodium carbonate is used in the industry of merchandises which form

portion of our day-to-day lives and applications or utilizations every bit varied as
the mush & A;

Paper, detergents, the chemical, edifice and auto industries, packaging,

agribusiness, environmental protection, H2O intervention, groceries, wellness and
fabrics, and so on.

Solvay produces and supplies acerb sodium carbonate in liquid signifier (aqueous
solution) and solid signifier (anhydrous), under the chief quality international
criterions, in order to supply efficient services to industry.

The fruits contain legion seeds that can bring forth a mature fruit-bearing works
within four old ages.
In the Amazon rainforest Psidium monkeys, which disperse psidium littorale
seeds in their dungs and cause self-generated bunchs of Psidium littorale trees
turn throughout the rain forest.
Trees is easily identified by its typical thin, smooth, cooper-colored bark that
flakes off. Demoing a light-green bad beneath.

Guava fruit today is considered minor in foootings of commercial universe trade

but is widely grown in the Torrid zones, enriching the diet of 100s of 1000000s of
people in the torrid zones of the universe.

Guava has spread widely throughout the Torrid Zones because it thrives in a
assortment of dirts, propagates easy, and bears fruit comparatively rapidly.

II. Review of Related Study

To determine the antimicrobial potential of guava leaf extracts against two

gram-negative bacteria and two gram-positive bacteria which are some of
foodborne and spoilage bacteria. The guava leaves were extracted in four
different solvents of increasing polarities. The efficacy of these extracts was
tested against those bacteria through a well-diffusion method employing leaf-
extract solution per well. According to the findings of the antibacterial assay, the
methanol extract had an antibacterial activity with mean zones of inhibition of
8.27 and 12.3 mm, and the ethanol extract had a mean zone of inhibition of 6.11
and 11.0 mm against B. cereus and S. aureus, respectively. On the basis of the
present finding. Guava leaf extract might be a good candidate in the search for a
natural antimicrobial agent. This study provides scientific understanding to
further determine the antimicrobial values and investigate other pharmacological
properties.
 Preparation of Plant Extract
The leaf samples were collected from the guava trees growing at the
specialty Plant House at Fort valley state University. Random leaf samples
were collected into plastic zip lock bags with appropriate labelling and
stored in an ice cooler until being transported to the laboratory for
extraction.

 Extraction Methods Used on Guava

The leaf samples were washed in tap water, dried, and placed into a
blender to be grounded into powder. Four solvents were arranged in
increasing polarity; n-hexane (>95%), methanol (>95%), ethanol (>95%),
and boiling distilled water were used for the maceration extraction
procedure. The leaf powder was added to each of solvents to make a 20%
concentration. The mixtures were made in sterile 125mL Erlenmeyer flask
wrapped in aluminium foil to avoid evaporation and exposure to light for 3
days at room temperature.

 Phytochemical Analysis
Chemical tests for the screening and identification of bioactive chemical
constituents in the guava were carried out with the extracts using the standard
procedure as described for each test, 1mL of each solvent extract was used for
analysis, in exception for the saponin test in which 3mL solvent extract was used.
8
 Test for Saponins
Extract was placed in a test tube and shaken vigorously. The formation
of stable form was taken as an indication for the presence of saponins.

 Test for Phenols and Tannins

Extract was mixed with 2mL of 2% solution, A blue-green or black
coloration indicated the presence of phenols and tannins.

 Test for Terpenoids

Extract was mixed with 2mL of chloroform. Then 2mL of concentrated
sulphuric acid was added carefully and shaken gently. A reddish brown
coloration of the interphase was formed to show positive results for the
presence of terpenoids.

 Test for Flavonoids

Extract was mixed with magnesium ribbon fragments, and
concentrated hydrochloric acid was added drop wise. Orange, red, pink, or
purple coloration indicates the presence of flavonoids.

 Test for Glycoside

Extract was mixed with 2mL of glacial acetic acid containing 2 drops of
2%. The mixture was poured into another tube containing 2mL of
concentrated sulphuric acid. A brown ring at the interphase indicates the
presence of glycosides.

The extract contains polyphenol. Polyphenol is known as the component which is

reported to have several good effects such as protecting DNA or cell organizing
enzyme. It is also known to protect us from cardiac disorder and have anticancer
effects. Another effect of the extract is that it helps a regulation of blood sugar
after eating.
According to some experiments held in a university hospital, it is proven that a
guava leaf extracts had given improvements to some of the nose related
problems and illness. So, guava leaf extract have many health aiding effects based
on many researches and experiments.
In addition, in this whole project, the significant effect of guava leaf extract is the
effect of curing skin infections. Other general effects of guava leaf extract could
not work well since those effects are applicable only when they are ingested.
Since using soap would make a skin contact, effect of aiding skin problems will
only be applied.

Guava is a common tropical fruit cultivated in man tropical and subtropical

regions, native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and Northern South
America. Although related species may also be called guavas, they belong to other
species or genra, such as the pineapple guava, Acca sellowiana. In 2016, India was
the largest producerof guavas, with 41% of the world total.
