I. Course Code: BA 105 II. Course Title: Operations Management

III. Course Credit: Three (3) units IV. Prerequisite:

V. Course Description: This course is a combination of Operations Management and Total Quality Management.  Operations Management tackles the nature, scope,
functions and importance of production and operations management in business. It includes discussions on Supply Chain Management, productivity, competitiveness and
strategy, forecasting, production system design, process selection and capacity planning, facilities layout, design of work systems, quality, scheduling and just-in-time
manufacturing systems. Cases will also be used to illustrate and apply the basic production and operations concepts and tools commonly used in business firms. While, Total
quality management (TQM) is a philosophy, methodology and system of tools aimed to create and maintain mechanism of organization's continuous improvement. It also
helps to reduce costs and to meet and exceed needs and expectations of customers and other stakeholders of an organization.

A graduate of a business administration degree should be able to:
1. Analyze the business environment for strategic direction
2. Prepare operational plans
3. Innovate business ideas based on emerging industry
4. Manage a strategic business unit for economic sustainability
5. Conduct business research

By the time of graduation, BSBA students will be able to:
1. Apply knowledge of business concepts and principles to solve business issues and problems in a global and strategic perspective;

3. Use information and communication technology in generating business reports and making decisions;
4. Apply principles of ethics and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities;
5. Function effectively as an individual and as a member or a leader of a diverse team in a multi-disciplinary settings;
6. Conduct research through independent studies of relevant literature and appropriate use of business theories and methodologies;
7. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” (based on RA 7722);
8. Recognize the need for, and prepare to engage in lifelong learning.

At the of this course, students are expected to:

1. Apply management method theories, methods to various types of organizations


2. Analyze, evaluate, and solve problems using methods of management science and philosophies
3. Make decisions within social and ethical dimensions
4. Develop the capacity for learning new knowledge and skills
5.  Use interpersonal and communication skills to be an effective leader
6. Plan for self-development while managing one’s self
