Subject: Approval of project proposal on Tourism Management System.

Dear Sir,
With due respect would like to state that, I am a student of a second
semester student of MCSE(Evening) at your institution. Thank you for
offering me an opportunity to make a project. In this respect, I would
like to inform you that I have set a project on Tourism Management
System For digital life. I have studied about the various
aspects of this system and make a proposal accordingly which is
enclosed here with for your kind consideration.

So, I therefore, pray and hope that you would be kind enough to grant
my request and allow me to make a project on my proposed topic.

Yours Sincerely,
Md. Amirul Islam

Introduction:
Tourism has turned out to be an economic booster contributing to the economic
development of many countries over the last few decades. People see holidays as
a necessity, and not as luxury in the present scenario. Tourism calls for
coordination and cooperation between travel agents, tour operators, and tourists.
Tourism has a few major elements − destinations, attractions, sites,
accommodation, and all ancillary services. The need for a robust and dynamic
tour management application has been around since the advent of the tourism
concept. Thus, we have developed an application to provide the best travelling
services to the customers and travel agents.

Objectives:
The Tourism Management System provides a search platform where a tourist can
find their tour places according to their choices. This system also helps to
promote responsible and interesting tourism so that people can enjoy their
holidays at their favorable places and develop tourism with different cultures so
that they enrich the tourism experience and build pride. The Tourism
Management System is a web-based application. The objective of this project is to
develop a system that automates the processes and activities of a travel agency. It
is tedious for a customer to plan a particular journey and have it executed
properly. This project is developed to replace the currently existing system, which
helps in keeping records of the customer details of destination as well as payment
received. The proposed system is highly automated and makes the travelling
activities much easier and flexible. The users can get the very right information at
the very right time. This will increase the trust of the customer into the tourism
company as well. This project is designed with SQL Server as back end. All the
data will be stored in the server and in case of any data losing situation, a backup
will be available by this server. The admins just have to click once and all the
details will be available to them

Goals:
The ultimate goal of this project was to find out the overall satisfaction level of
the tourists visiting, so that needed improvements can be made in order to
maximize the positive experiences of the tourists.
The specific objectives are to:
i. Identify of tourist attractions and the magnitude and significance of
these.
ii. Assess the quality of Information, Hospitality, Accommodation and
Infrastructural facilities provided to the tourists.
iii. Determine the overall satisfaction level of tourists visiting.

Methodology:
The approach employed in designing the proposed system. The methodology is
based on the fact that the system represents an organized way of gathering
business requirements and building the goal of the project. This was employed,
because it is an object-oriented and web- enabled program development
methodology and also a framework for developing software systems. It also
clearly outlines the different roles of the individuals involved in the project, such
as the project manager, business analyst and developers. Some characteristics of
Rational Unified Process include;
i. Developing iteratively: This involves developing software in repeated
cycles. With each cycle, additional features are designed and developed
in the system until the system is fully functional and ready for
deployment to the customer.
ii. Managing requirements: This involves explicit documentation of the
user's requirement and keeping track of changes with respect to the
requirement. It also analyses the system and the impact those changes
will make on the system before taking them into consideration.
iii. Using component-based architectures: This involves structuring the
system architecture into components.
iv. Modelling software visually: Using graphical UML to present the
software's dynamic and static view
v. Quality verification: It ensures that software meets the organizational
quality standards
vi. Control over changes: It gives room for changes in the software to be
managed efficiently using a change management system and
configuration management procedures and tools.

Research Design:
 Target group: This project focused on all types of tourists- international
and local tourists, day trippers and night visitors. Questionnaires were given
out to tourists aged 18 years and above.

 Sampling techniques: Sampling was done systematically, whereby one

questionnaire was given to the tourists on an hourly basis interval, in order
to reduce the chances of giving out more than one questionnaire to a group
of tourists visiting together, and therefore reducing the level of influences
and replication of information/answers.

 Data collection instrument: Data was collected through self-administered

questionnaires, given to the tourist as they enter into the conservancy
through the main entry point. The questionnaires comprised of two
sections; the first section focused on the general aspects i.e., demographics,
nationality, and sources of information among others, while the second
part focused on questions regarding various aspects of satisfaction
including customer care, accommodation, information, and accessibility.
The filled questionnaires were dropped at the Exit on their way out, and for
the tourists staying overnight, left at various camps where they were being
accommodated.

Relational Database Schema:

The data is stored in a database that is developed in MySQL. The database
consists of two tables. Data of a tourist means details such as ID, name, from
location, to location, no. of days and the price of tour package with ID as the
primary key which is placed in a table tour package. The user table has the
datalike username and password for login that enables the admin to manipulate
the information regarding each tourist.
Technology:
Browsing Tools: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari etc.

Front end: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript

Back end: PHP

Server Requirements: Apache HTTP Server

Database: MySQL
Dev tools: Php Storm / Visual Studio Code/Sublime Text

Conclusion:
Tourism is currently recognized as a global industry which is growing at a high rate
like any other industry. Access to relevant and accurate information is at the heart
of tourism. Here, the proposed project on Tourism Management System tries to
bridge the gap by noting what a tourist perceives as relevant. Hence, the aim of
this project entails the design and implementation of a platform that will assist
tourists in gaining access to travel to various tourist locations. The project also
helped to provide knowledge about the latest technology used in developing web
enabled application and client server technology that will be great demand in
future. It is worth mentioning that this project work is open for further
enhancement, with the expectation that it becomes more robust and better
enhanced; covering every single tourist sites. For a modified system, the user
needs to just login into the application and can find the routes, costs, hotels,
adventure sports, transportations and book immediately and complete the
booking process for a successful transaction. In the aspect of tourism, Internet
and web technologies have made more readily available information on tourist
locations, accommodations, transportation, shopping, food, festivals, and other
attractions, thus improving the whole tourism experience.
