CROWN SAVER TEST REPORT: RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES

To prevent the crowning out of travelling blocks, it is suggested that every rig test the
crown saver before operations commence. The results of these tests should be
thoroughly documented with a copy being posted in the doghouse and kept on file in
your company’s corresponding field offices. Consider the following guidelines when
testing the crown saver:

1. Bring the travelling blocks to floor level and attach approximately 25 meters of
tally tape to the elevators and/or bails;

2. Pull approximately 15 meters of tally tape off the reel ensuring it comes to rest in
such a way that it will unravel without tangling or catching on anything;

3. Raise the travelling blocks approximately 9 meters from the rig floor ensuring
there is ample crown room for performing the test.

Note: the blocks should stop in the area above the tubing board and below the
rod basket;

4. Set the crown saver to trip at this height. Using the tally tape previously attached
to the elevators and/or bails, measure and record the Starting Distance of the
travelling blocks to a fixed point on the rig floor;

5. Lower the travelling blocks to the rig floor ensuring the tally tape comes to rest in
such a way that it will unravel without tangling or catching on anything;

6. Set the main drawworks gear selector to 1st gear;

7. ENSURE THAT ALL PERSONNEL ARE CLEARED FROM THE RIG FLOOR
AREA BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH TEST;

8. Hoist the travelling blocks at full RPM until the crown saver is tripped and the
travelling blocks have stopped;

9. Measure and record the Stopping Point of the travelling blocks

10. Calculate Actual Stopping Distance (distance the travelling blocks travel after
the crown saver is tripped) by subtracting the Stopping Point from the Starting
Distance;

11. Calculate the Minimum Safety Factor by multipling the Actual Stopping
Distance by your company’s Minimum Safety Factor (%).

CROWN SAVER TEST REPORT: RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES

Note: For the purposes of this bulletin, Minimum Safety Factor is a percentage of
calculated distance that provides additional stopping room designed to protect
workers and equipment from contacting the crown should conditions change.

Your company’s Minimum Safety Factor (%) should be determined and defined
according to your specfic company policies and procedures, and prior to any
crown saver testing;

12. Calculate the Minimum Distance from Crown to Trip Point by adding the Actual
Stopping Distance to the Minimum Safety Factor;

13. Repeat steps 5 through 11 for gears 2 to 5.

For further information, please refer to Technical Bulletin T-16-02: Crown Out
Prevention – Equipment and Process.

SIGNATURE: AIR PRESSURE DURING TEST: KPA/PSI

CAUTION: When tripping rods to the rod basket, rig mast height and wellhead height may be a factor in reducing crown room. The height
of the crown saver should always be checked and adjusted if necessary prior to every trip in and out. The minimum distance from crown to
trip point at the selected gear cannot exceed the crown room that exists at the crown saver set height. If the minimum distance from crown
to trip point does exceed the existing crown room, a lower gear must be selected.

Note to Drillers: this report serves as a guideline only for stopping distances. The stopping distances in this chart can change over time
due to ambient temperature changes, brake pad wear and brake drum heat. The crown saver is your last line of defense from crown out
situations. Controlling block speed and positional awareness are the primary methods for not hitting the crown. You should visually confirm
the position of the blocks not solely relying on counting wraps on your drum or counting couplings. **KNOW WHERE YOUR BLOCKS ARE
AT ALL TIMES**
