INTRODUCTION

MY TOOLS
The development of new functions in the field of Mechatronics are still progressing at an amazing pace. The increasing
computing power in new hardware platforms does enable amazing new things. The software development tools and
experience are having a hard time to follow suit. Many incredible new inventions will be created in the coming years. To
stimulate this development it is wise to set challenging targets for the technical community. Such targets could include
the creation of micro-mechatronic devices such as man-made insects for many different applications.
A similar “Man on the Moon” challenge has been defined in the Japanese community. Their goal is to develop new
technologies that will enable the creation of a soccer team of humanoid robots that is capable of contesting in a soccer
match with the world champion in the year 2050. To achieve this goal different leagues were defined where teams from
universities and institutes are competing. Through these contest, where the winner must share his ideas with the other
participants, the knowledge of mechatronics is continuously growing.
You are going to analyze a technologic object using a didactic activity. You and a partner are going to make a simple
analyze and then you are going to explain it to the rest of the class.

ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION

 Ask to the instructor for the technologic object to analyze, then try to give oral answers to the following
questions.
A. What are the object’s parts?
B. What is the relation among the parts?,
C. What is its function?
D. What are the materials?,
E. It is similar to others? Which one?

 Organize a group of 2 persons and select an object to analyze.

 Following the activities , you will get the result proposed in this guide.

I Make a simple description about the object function.

to use the new vocabulary acquired.

Make a scale draw of the object and include all the details in this draw.
II Make a different draw dismantling the object.

that make the object fulfill the function.

We are going to study the different
reasons because the object was design. Make a list with the object evolution.
Let’s study what are the origin and the
necessity of this one. Imagine how the object could make the difference if the next evolution is the one that
you are thinking. Write a paragraph explaining all the solutions that you will have with

At the end of your work, you have to
make a report using the power point
tool.
