AREA ASSESSMENT AND ENHANCEMENT

Priority Recommendations for Coastal Tourism in Tiquiano's Beach Resort:

While all areas of the coast have the potential to become excellent tourist destinations, given
limited resources, it is necessary to identify the areas with the best potential and focus efforts and
resources on those areas. In addition, the team noted that because many attractions are under the
supervision of different government sectors, a comprehensive plan that includes all-natural and
man-made attractions and accommodations needs to be developed.
Facilities
 Accommodations
The building is not yet fully furnished and was under construction. Since most coastal locations
were assessed in this highly detailed way. The team particularly focused on the concept of “value
for money” - whether the accommodations and quality matched the price charged. We conducted
an interview with the resort manager about their opinions, plans and goals. Difficulties in
improving their accommodations were identified as: insufficient infrastructure (most
accommodations have to provide their own water, energy, and waste disposal); poor
communications, which hinders the abilities to take reservations over the telephone or internet,
and causes difficulty in emergencies; and lack of trained staff.

Transportation
Transportation has been an integral part of the tourism industry; transportation links
tourists with various tourist attractions. There is a general agreement that tourism
expands more with better transportation systems. Whether transportation plays an
important role in enriching the travel experience of a tourist depends on the mode of
transport and the frequency of use. And established that security and safety in
transportation systems are not bad though tourists consider transportation costs high.

Upon interviewing the resort manager, one of the things mentioned as underperformance
is poor transportation systems.
 What modes of transportation do most visitors use to get to the destination/focus area?
- The road leading to the destination is inbound and only limited vehicles can be
seen around the area. Tourists usually use private cars/vehicles to get to the area,
while the rest use public transportation specifically the bajaj. This scenario is a
hindrance for the tourists because it is rare to find a transportation leading to the
resort.

 Are the transportation services generally efficient and safe? How could they be
improved?
- Transportation leading to the area is not reliably safe, especially since the
tourists are not really familiar with the transportation drivers in the area. The most
effective thing to do is for them to hire the bajaj drivers for services so that they
can also help the drivers to earn money from passenger services as well.

Man-made Attractions
The most important economic benefit of beaches is that they serve as a tourist attraction site. A resort
should have more to offer its guests than food, utilities, and a place to sleep. Tiquiano’s beach
resort has a pleasant sandy beaches which should probably popular with tourists who use these spaces
for recreational purposes.
 Recreational Activities
Beach Volleyball
- Recreational activities help to divert the attention of tourists. For example, if the
water in the sea is receding and it's not good enough for swimming, then they can
turn their attention to playing beach volleyball.
