Active Learning Ecosystem

Incorporate All 10 Active Learning Ecosystem Principles This Semester

To implement the 10 ALE principles, you must participate actively in class and check in
on the course's tools and assignments to make sure everything is going well. Make sure to keep
in touch with your students on a consistent basis using various means of communication.
Incorporate topical and relevant real-world events or local/regional trends into your activities.
Make your structure and expectations obvious so that students may use them as valid
benchmarks for their own progress. Include a variety of assessment strategies. Embrace risk-
taking and encourage it in your students. Students have the option of submitting video projects,
drawing surprising analogies, or doing in-depth research into fascinating subjects. Keep your
students interested by providing regular feedback and answering their inquiries promptly.
Involve students in making decisions about their work whenever feasible; this might mean
letting them choose their own research topics, assignment formats, or even who gets to take
the lead in class. Help students from all walks of life feel like they belong in your classroom. One
way to do this is to bring in fresh ideas and examples. Facilitate a setting where students are
both challenged and motivated to contribute to online forums. Establishing rapport with your
students and earning their trust takes time and effort throughout the semester.
