Reflection on ‘The most villainous man of 20th Century’

Most people have always depicted him as someone who’s merciless, inhumane, and
undoubtedly insatiable greed for power which, in many ways, is historically proven to be true. He
possessed powerful ambitions that blinded him just so he could achieve power and success far greater
than anyone else. His determination is quite admirable for he managed to keep these ambitions on track
despite being imprisoned for nine months and soared higher after that downfall. Contentment was
never in his nature, he was highly motivated by his beliefs and was ready to go to any extremities to
satisfy his desires. He is the Nazi Dictator whose military policies led to World War II and the deaths of at
least 11 million people including the genocide of an estimated six million Jews in the Holocaust. His
name is Adolf Hitler.

Aside from those common perception towards Hitler, I presume that he has a very charismatic
personality that enabled him to get along with people easily. His oratory skills might be so likable that
whatever he promise became appealing and convincing to the people then suddenly made use of
people’s desperation for “change” as an opportunity to spread lies and propaganda to cater his plan as
politician. His opportunistic approach and perfectly timed deceptive speeches have become the
significant reasons in the rise of Nazism and his reign in Germany. He seemed overconfident about
himself that he openly express his hatred to the Jews and his rotten beliefs that the greatest enemies of
Aryans were the Jews and therefore he, as German, should eliminate them at all costs since they were
genesis of all their misfortunes. He patiently take hold of his hatred before unleashing full force of
dictatorship and cruelty for the Jews. This just shows that anyone that is fully consumed by their anger
see no boundaries between being human and evil at the same time.

On the other hand, Hitler’s character has become that pernicious possibly because of his rough
childhood. I believe that he grew up with a dictator-like father who did not permit Adolf’s dream of
becoming an artist and even though he strived for that dream alone still, he was rejected from college of
arts twice and this just made him feel even worse. It seems like Hitler was hungry for love and
acceptance and I think he just need someone to care for him due to the treatment he’s receiving from
his family especially from his father. It could have affected him greatly if he was in an environment filled
with love, freedom and compassion. Moreover, one must remember that Hitler was not born evil,
vicious tyrant that he became. He is definitely “smart enough” to could have realized that what he was
doing is already too much but his mind might have already been crowded with desperation and hatred.
It was a shame that he used his intelligence and persuasive skills in the pursuit of cruelty and naked
ambition.

Adolf Hitler, like most people that want to control everything around them, had the fear of
losing the control for power. He did not think that he was the monster, in his eyes, he was fighting
monsters. But in the end, he saw no other option than suicide to escape from the madness he caused in
the entire world.
