Halloween

Halloween is celebrated on October the Day before ALL SAINT’S DAY.

The Romans believed that on this night the witches, ghosts and black cats
would come on earth because the witches had sold their souls to the Devil.
Today Halloween is no more than fun, and Americans also celebrate the results of good
harvest.
On this day children disguise like witches, wizards, pirates, skeletons, grim reapers,
mummies, scarecrows, vampires, werewolves, zombies, dracula, frankenstein or wrap up in
sheets to look like ghosts, and from house to house shouting TRICK or TREAT. They are given
candies, cookies and fruits; otherwise they play tricks on them. They also use pumpkins to make
JACK-’O-LANTERNS to scare people. According to the legend Jack was a man who could not
enter in heaven because of his miserliness, neither hell because he had played jokes on the Devil.
Thus he had to walk on the earth with his lantern until judgment day.

Listen to the song and fill up the gaps.
