Introduction:
Why abort when adoption is another option?
Adoption is always brought up when people talk about aborting an
unwanted child. There are tonnes of people whose application to adopt a
child is rejected. However, we believe that it is preferable to subject a child
to adoption rather than to abort. I strongly agree!
Even though adoption is another option we know that when it is time to
give it up for adoption it’s going to be harder, this may be true but we still
believe that adoption is better than abortion because the baby will still have
a chance to live its life.

Argument 1:
In Jamaica the Offences against the Persons Act, Section 14 states that:
‘’No person shall intentionally be deprived of his life save in execution of
the sentence of a court in respect of a criminal offence of which he has
been convicted.’’
Therefore, as a matter of constitutional law, we are all assured the right to
life: the question that arises from this, for the present purposes, is whether
the term "person" legally includes the foetus, for if it does, then the
Jamaican Constitution would prohibit any law that seeks to allow abortion.

In Jamaica the Offences against the Person Act. Section 72 of the act
indicates:
Every woman, being with child, who with intent to cause her miscarriage,
shall unlawfully administer to herself any poison or other noxious thing, or
shall unlawfully use any instrument or other means; and
whosoever( doctor), with intent to cause the miscarriage of any woman,
whether she be or be not with child, shall unlawfully administer to her, any
poison or other noxious thing, or shall unlawfully use any instrument or
other means whatsoever with the like intent, shall be guilty of a felony, and,
being convicted thereof, shall be liable to be imprisoned for life, with or
without hard labour."

Thus, Section 72 contemplates life imprisonment both for the woman who
"unlawfully"takes action to cause her own miscarriage and for persons who
"unlawfully" cause a miscarriage.

There are many effects of abortion. Such as damage to the womb or cervix,
excessive bleeding and death. You are not only destroying a life you are
also putting your own life at risk.

Argument 2: Christianity
As Christians God teaches us that all children are a gift from God and we
should Love and protect them.
Abortion is Morally wrong!
The second most important commandment says that love your neighbor as
you love yourself. The fetus should be thought of as the neighbour and you
should love and Care for it.
The six Commandment says that though shall not murder. The bible
teaches that murder is FORBIDDEN!
Life is before any other right - Abortion justifications say that it's your right
but life is greater than any right a human being will ever have.

“‘Cursed be anyone who takes a bribe to shed innocent blood.’ And
all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’
● Psalms 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the
fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are
the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver
with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his
enemies in the gate.
Pregnant out of rape is an horrific experience and a violence but to
abort that child is another act of violence and that act of violence is
not healed, abortion does not heals rape in fact it makes it worst.
Babies that are conceived out of a rape or poor case are they worth
less than of a human being? NO
Persons ask questions..what if they are going to be abused, poor,
disabled etc...
You are saying that it is better for them to be murdered than to be
abused?
Is it better to be murdered than to be poor or disabled?
In essence you are saying that an innocent child should not live
because they are not "perfect".
Babies should have their human rights whether they are born or
unborn.
Abortion is never safe someone is always murdered!

Argument 3:
A fetus being taken from the womb before birth is murder.I believe
this is because an unborn human being has the same characteristics
as a born human being, why would it not be considered a human
being in the womb. The only difference between a born and an
unborn human being is the size of the person, the level of
development and the environment that they are in.For example, You
have a one year old sister and you also have 16 year old sister
Would the one year old have no value because she is less developed
than the other sister, I think not.
As you all know in Christianity it is clear that they are completely
against the killing of an innocent because of what is stated in The
Holy Bible. They would explain to you that in the commandments it is
stated that thou shall not kill, it is also stated that a child is a gift from
God. Finally life starts from conception.

Rebuttal:
● Abortion is another cause of natural decrease( this is when the
death rate is higher than the birth rate).
● You could be aborting the scientist who finds the cure for
cancer or the vaccine for the coronavirus which we are now
facing.
● Even if it is a rape case they COULD have the child and put
him/her up for adoption.

The fetus is defenseless,who is going to protect it?

My body my choice

Our response:
Can’t have a choice when talking about life because if a baby was born and
killed the person would have committed Murder and go to prison. Is it nor
the same when it’s in the womb they can actually breathe,they have a life?

Interesting point
All of us once existed as a cluster of cells that weren't developed into
human beings. So, if our parents aborted us we wouldn’t be around to
debate
