HOME EVALUATION

An evaluation and subsequent


report of findings to determine if
supervision in a proposed
residence is in the best interest
of the juvenile and the community.

Remember: The home evaluation should paint a vivid,


detailed picture of the home, neighborhood, and peers.

REFERRAL PACKET
The Receiving State has 45 calendar days from the date of receipt of the
referral packet to conduct the home evaluation.

Note: Many State Compact Offices require the


completed report be submit by local
probation or parole staff within 30 days.

HOME EVALUATION REPORT

Within 45 calendar days, the receiving state's ICJ Office must submit

the final complete Home Evaluation Report.

The report will include the local field staff's recommendation and the
2 receiving state's ICJ Office approval or denial of the request for
transfer of supervision.

If the report is late, the receiving state must provide an explanation

of the delay.

Check with your state's ICJ Office to learn about specific policies and

procedures related to timelines for submission.
