Retrieve 2 newspaper reports (news and editorial) then analyze and discuss:
A. News report:
   1. "the five w's": who, what, where, when, why.
PUMPBOAT NALUNOD, USA MISSING
WHO: John Lord Tamsi, Dennis Goden, Alex Padilla, Giovanni Amistad, Montano Paroco,
Chunguyan Casquejo, Cleto Limosnero, Jose Rex Calderon and Arnel Balingit
WHAT: A pump boat sinking with one of its passengers still missing
WHEN: 2:16 a.m. of November 9, 2021
WHERE: Hilutongan Channel in the City of Lapu-Lapu
WHY: Big waves suddenly appeared and it went inside the boat causing it to sink.
HOW: When they were on their way to Lapu-Lapu City from Olango Island, they met big waves
that got inside their boat causing for it to sink.

   2.  how are facts and figures presented, which figures have been chosen (to which effect?)
- The facts and figures were presented at the first paragraphs of the news report. These
facts include who were involved, what happened, when it happened, where it happened,
why it happened and how it happened.
  3.   what has been left out?
- Nothing was left out to deliver the news properly, everything relevant to the incident was
included.
  4.  structure of the article ("the inverted pyramid structure" :all answers to the five w's are in the
first paragraph, each paragraph that follows deals with one aspect 
- All the answers to the five w's are in the first paragraph, each paragraph that follows
deals with the same aspect

- Formal context but with limitations in using highfalutin words to avoid
misunderstanding.

B. Editorial report:
   1. Does the author tell the reader what the text will be about? Does he or she begin with an
example or anecdote? Cite/explain.
- -Yes, the author presented the idea of the text right from the start. He started with
"Nagkaanam na gyud og kabalik sa normal o new normalang kinabuhi sa mga tawo
human sa magduha ka tuig nga pandemyasa Covid-19, pasalamat ta nga duna nay bakuna
ug nagkaanam na sab kalig-on ang resistensya sa mga tawo batok sa maong sakit." The
author begin the text with the improvements that our country has experience throughout
the 2 years of Covid-19

  2. What kind of information is presented - facts, arguments, opinions?


-  The information presented were facts.

 3.  How are the facts and arguments or opinions arranged - as a numbered list, as examples, as
pros and cons? How are the arguments relate to each other?
- The facts were arranged as examples. All of the examples relate to each other as these
only connects to the idea of getting vaccinated.

 4.  Does the author try to take account of other opinions apart from his or her own? lf so,
where? 
- No, the author did not take account of other people’s opinion other than his own.

 5.  How does the author concludes his report? 


-He concluded his reports by the facts that was both presented by the government and the people.
–– does the author give his or her own opinion? -Yes.
–– does he or she refer back to the introduction? -Yes
–– does he or she draw a conclusion on the basis of the facts presented? -Yes.
–– if so, he or she will probably have used an inductive approach (presentation of facts from
which a conclusion is drawn). -"Ang dakong hagit nalang mao ang pagkombinsir sa mga tawong
hangtud karon nagmagahi gyud sa pagpapabakuna, kadtong padayong naghunahuna og negatibo
bahin ani."
–– how do the text and headline or title go together? -The title says "Hagit Para Sa Gobiyerno"
and the text shows the "hagit" that the government is facing because of the pandemic. 

6. For what purposes might a text have been written? Explain why you think so in reference to
the words/terms used by the author.
- -The text was written to inform. He informs the people that "gipahibalo sa Malacañang
ang tinguha niining maglusad og tulo ka adlaw nga National Vaccination Drive sa tuyo
nga mas mapadali ang pagkab-ot sa herd immunity sa populasyon o 70 porsiyento sa
tanang mga Pilipino.

  7. Discuss the tone of the author and how it relates to his objective/s.
- -The author's tone is serious and formal as his goal is to inform people of some updates
from the Malacañang and the possible outcomes not getting vaccinated brings to a person
that is,for example, looking for a job.
